I recently read (either in this forum or on a website, I don’t recall) that both low & high beam headlights can be adjusted for distance. They stated it’s useful when a lot of weight is put in the rear.

My USA version 2024 x1 28i with the Premium Package & ID9 with software update 3/2024.30 does not have this adjustment feature. Is there anyone in the USA that has it? If so, which version, package & software are you running?

Is this a feature only available outside the USA?

Mine has the matrix lights and I noticed that besides turning some sectors on/off, they also adjust themselves automatically up-down. When you increase the distance to the vehicle Infront and there is no incoming traffic, they gradually go up. Its almost unnoticeable.

I was actually thinking about that a few weeks ago. I went to Home Depot to buy 20 paver stones. Each one was 29 pound, so 20 of them ended up being almost 600 pounds. I folded down the rear seats and lined them with cardboard. Took me a while to load them. I could tell that the rear was lower by about an inch and half after 600 pounds of stone was in the trunk.

As I was leaving Home Depot, it was already getting dark. I didn't actually notice the low beam light patter being any higher than usual. Perhaps the headlights were able to compensate for the rear being lower usual?

they must be, since I did not notice any difference with 600 pounds in the trunk.

it was also interesting how my x1 seemed to handle a lot better and had a much more cushy ride somehow with all that weight in the rear?
