On two separate occasions now towards the end of a drive I’ve noticed the passenger side dome light turn on by itself. If you press the button, nothing happens. But if you turn on the full dome light and back off, it goes off anyone else seen this?

Yes!!! Happened to me on several occasions. Exactly the same as you. Can’t turn it off if you touch it, but if you turn on/off all the lights then it goes back to normal.

whats wierd is that in our x1, it doesnt turn off if you press the button, but it works well if you press the actual light which then puts fingerprints on the lens which is annoying. the light menu through the idrive system is more reliable or voice control (hey bmw turn off all interior lights)

It’s a very weird issue that Ive never experienced in any of my previous cars. Hoping the new update fixes this (if it is software related)

Nope! I’m on 07/2023 and experiencing this issue

I’ve had the issue over at least the course of two updates so don’t think it was a recent update issue.

It’s weird it either only happens once in a while or I only notice it once in a while. The good thing is these cars should be smart enough to kill those lights after a little while of being locked anyways so it shouldn’t drain the battery.

I've had this issue from day one, but all of my interior lights turn on randomly while driving. Once I'm finally able to turn them off, the setting to have the interior lights turn on when the doors open switches off and I have to manually turn that back on. I have a video of this that I've sent to Genius, and brought it in to the service center a couple of weeks ago. They couldn't get a code on it or reproduce it, but it happens frequently. I have another appointment with them tomorrow to address again this and some other issues as well.

Mine seems to be doing it more frequently.

I did notice that although pressing the buttton for the specific light does not fix it, if you pull up the interior lights options you can see it is turned on on the screen. And can turn it off from there without issue. So weird.

They did a software update which seemed to fix a couple of problems and cause a few new ones, but still having this issue. Bringing it in again next week because these bugs are seriously annoying.

Hmm. I’m on 03/2024.30 and I still have the ghost light issue and have had one very sluggish day but otherwise it’s been a lot better than it was previously.

I went to my local dealer yesterday and spoke to him about the light issue. I mentioned that some users reported that the 03/2024 update fixed the problem whilst for others it didn’t.

He suggested the following:
If software update hasn’t fixed it for everyone, then it’s likely not software related. Instead he suggested that it could be a hardware malfunction, especially since it’s happening for everyone only on the passenger side.

My car is due for the recall fix on May 21 and they’ll now also have a look at the light issue. I’ll post an update if they find anything.

I got the notification for 03/2024.40 yesterday… skipping that one for now based on the issues you are seeing and sticking to .30
