I am currently in the process of receiving OTA update for 11/2023 but it seems to be taking ages. A half hour run in the car only downloads about .1GB of data and it is a 3GB download.
Anyone else experienced this slow download? |

If you open your app then check status, scroll down and it should say software upgrade, if you tap on that it should show a tab to download.
Just a thought have you got the check box in the app set to download via WiFi? 1st screen on app scroll down to info click settings, then the you can see if it is ticked. Last edited by Tunners; 04-09-2024 at 07:43 AM.. |

Doing it via the car took a couple of days since it only actively downloads while the car is on and I had only had a few short drives within that timespan.

Mine appeared on the app about 1/2 hour after notification in the car. It had already started the download in the car but I downloaded to phone and installed via that. |

I've always received my software update via the phone first, and then the car. Seems they're fiddling around with backend things a bit as everyone seems to be having varying experiences.

While 11/2023 does not fix some of the CarPlay phone crashes and cutouts I feel there is noticeable improvement in iDrive9 speed and usability. DriveRecorder appeared, also channel # for xm now displays if you have music info in the center of the cluster. I also feel the drivetrain is overall smoother and more responsive. |

Day 1 had 0.1GB parked at home, Day 2 had 0.2GB still parked at home, Day 3 got 0.9GB as the car was driven in town on errands. Day 4, still 0.9GB at home. Day 5 more errands got 1.5GB, then I decided to continue driving in town Day 6 and watch for cell signals to determine what locations made the download proceed. Through trial and error, I found being close to large cell towers made progress in downloading. Found a parking lot in between 2 cell towers (5G) in line of sight, and got 0.1GB every 4 to 7 minutes - by then from 1.5GB to 3GB took roughly 3 hours of random driving errands in town, plus the last 0.5GB to get to 3GB in a parking lot for 40 minutes. Not ideal, but after 6 days of waiting, that method worked for us. All seems fine after installing, Driver Recorder and Augmented View now present - (was on 07/2023.73 which was a OTA update after late November delivery and took maybe 30 minutes to install). CarPlay audio drops continue, but random and less frequent with longer periods without drops. Seems folks on the east coast US have received notification of the 03/2024 OTA download - hopefully we will get that one next. If so, I plan to wait a day after the notification and hope the full download goes to the iPhone first on home high speed WIFI before initiating it via the in-car system at the beginning. An odd quirk is that small APPS seem to download in a minute or two at our at home parked location, but the large system OTA update stalls. It’s a mystery? Side note: Wish BMW NA would implement an option/preference to download via mobile device first (only) on the My BMW App for this scenario of large downloads opposed to relying on the OTA cell signal networks which may be too slow in non metro areas - just a thought! |

I don’t know what is happening then
Perhaps somebody else with iD9 will come along with a suggestion or let you know if they at least have been able to update via their phone. |

All was fine in my OS9 update via the phone. I received a notification and it started downloading when I was on WIFI. It was much slower to download to the phone than from phone to the car. There was some kind of progress bar in the app status.

I’m hoping this may lead to 03/2024 version being deployed OTA shortly in the UK… maybe ambitious thinking and may just end up going to the garage! |

Same issue here. Able to see the notification in the BMW app, but unable to select it on either android or iOS.
My solution has been to sit in the car keeping the gui awake until it's finished downloading (incredibly slowly). |

Normally I'm all for getting the latest and greatest software updates, but by not telling me, I encountered many issues while driving. The reason was that 03/2024/.37 deleted many settings and return the rest to factory default, even inside my personal settings within my BMW ID. Not really that bad, I just had to select everything to my liking again. |

I’ve noticed zero improvements in the update. CarPlay still continually drops, it’s still very buggy and laggy.
Plus, every time I now get in the car (irrespective of opening with key or phone), it wants me to scan a QR code which takes you to the my BMW app - before booting me out. Takes about 3 attempts to actually log into my profile. Pretty horrific that it’s been allowed to release in this state. I’ve just come from about 3.5 years of flawless iDrive7, so this is so frustrating. |
