Problem with Apple Maps integration

Hi!
For some reason, the deep integration(on the screen behind the wheel) of Apple Maps via CarPlay does not always work correctly on my X1. Sometimes it gives me a message like in the first picture(text translation: "Route guidance via Apple CarPlay active"). When I drive a bit and get on the return route, or get out and get back in the car (it's important that the screens go black for a moment), full integration starts to work. Anyone know why this is happening and what to do about it?
Apple Maps on the center screen always works correctly.

Interesting. That seems to be a different problem than this one:

So far, restarting iDrive (pressing the volume knob for 20 seconds) helps. Usually it helps for several days

You can only display Google Maps on the main screen. Only Apple Maps and factory satnav can display in the instrument panel

If you have android: Google maps will appear on instrument panel.

If you have iPhone: Apple Maps will appear on instrument panel. You cannot have Google maps on the instrument panel when using CarPlay

Given the issues with CarPlay and android auto in iDrive 8 and 9, either option is fine hahaha

I’ve stuck with the OEM satnav and it’s been great. Especially with the augmented reality navigation and built-in charging planner

Also, (without starting an OS war &#129315, I just want to clarify that I’d never recommend an Android phone over iOS. Even though I absolutely love the phones and features, the software just lets them down in comparison.

Why are you "stuck" with the factory satnav?

My bad. I meant I’m sticking with it. Not that I’m stuck with it. No negative connotation.

ok, that makes more sense.

I use all three, depending on location.

I use the BMW factory navigation when I'm in cities becasue the AR makes it easy to navigate.

On highways/interstates for long distance driving, I go back to Apple Maps.

When I'm in an unfamiliar city, I use Google Maps because it's much easier to search for restaurants or attractions on Google Maps.

Nice use of the three maps! In the year and two months I’ve had the car I think I needed to switch to Google maps about once or twice and it was for the exact reasons you use Google maps. I was in an unfamiliar area and trying to locate a restaurant. The bmw maps was taking me to an area that was 5 mins away from the real location. Was very weird

I have the same problem.
it says that it found the restaurant but then guides me to a wrong address.

Besides that, works very well and it is very user-friendly.

Factory nav is inferior.

There's a turnpike exit near me that, when you get off the exit, you can stay all the way right and go North, or get off the exit and bear left, and go South. Or, of course, you can stay on the highway and not exit. Factory nav says "go left" if you stay on the highway, and "go straight" to exit and then bear left.

Brilliant. Just one example. It tried to take me thru a construction entrance (temporary gravel road) to a resort last year.

but the AR feature is fun because of the big arrows.

otherwise, yes, it is inferior. map data is somewhat outdated. or in some cases, severely outdated and attempts to take me on roads that have not existed in over 4 years. the interstate entrance was relocated and the original entrance became an empty field.

I dont' know if it's just me, but there are times when I start driving and my phone won't connect to CarPlay. That means I can't use CarPlay for navigation unless I pull over and try to reconnect it. In those cases, at least the BMW factory navigation still works, so it's useful that way.

I have iDrive 8, which sometimes doesn't connect Apple Car Play. But all I have to do it hit the icon for Mobile Devices in the home screen, and tap the Car Play box and it connects right away.

I have idrive 8 also. That trick doesn't always work for me. Sometimes it does work, but CarPlay will play music and answer my Siri command... while the screen is blank. I can even say "Hey siri, start navigating to Logan Airport" and it will start navigation and give voice instructions, but no maps appear on either screen. The only way around it to turn the engine off and start again.

There's 3 locations that I frequently pass through in my area that have high levels of RF interference that causes CarPlay to disconnect, this happened on my previous f32, and even causes TPMS errors at one of the locations on my old e90 and e92. Two of these spots the RF interference is so bad that when CarPlay does reconnect sometimes the infotainment goes blank, yet music still plays and I can give Siri commands. If I restart the infotainment system by holding down the volume knob this will fix it, other times going into the menu and disconnecting the phone and then reconnecting it will work.

This is probably my biggest annoyance with the electronics, but thankfully only happens once or twice a week at most.

Wow!!
Sounds like you might have bigger problems that CarPlay disconnecting.
I’d be afraid to drive near the 3 high RF areas you mentioned for fear that I’d be cooked alive or chocolate in my hand I’m eating would melt.
Sounds dangerous

I live on an island, so not much choice avoiding them. One is a radio station, one is a military hospital right near the freeway, and one I can't figure out where it's coming from but it's near the defunct stadium(which come to think of it, I haven't had any disconnects there since they shut it down this year). I'm not too worried about it, pretty sure there's way more things I encounter more frequently that will kill me first.
