Bimmercode said coding impossible, but try this permanent disabler of auto stop/start

Bimmercode rep said that Bimmercode coding for the 2023/2024/2025 BMW X1 U11 will never be possible. Not really sure if this is because there's no demand or for technical reasons. Bimmercode has worked almost flawlessly on other BMWs that I've owned in the past several years.

They told me to try this upcoming device that may permanently disable the engine auto stop/start function. It seems to have USB-C connector on the left? Not sure how it will connect to the car.

Here's the link: https://www.bimmercom.io/join

Does anyone think this will actually work?

The link says it plugs into the OBD port.

Be interesting, hopefully it does get rid of the start/stop issue

Is that device being developed by Bimmercode or a different company?

https://www.bimmercom.io doesn't resolve to any web site.

based on the way that the Bimmercode rep explained it to me, I get the feeling that "Bimmercom.io" had nothing to do with Bimmercode.

If that's the case, I'm not really sure if I'm adventurous or brave enough to plug in a device directly into my car when the said device is designed and produced by an unknown company.

apparently there's even more hate of the auto stop/start function over on the X5 forum. Those folks are also talking about this new OBD device

"works like a charm", says my friend who has a 2024 X1. supposedly only work for iDrive 9. Not really sure what's to prevent it from working on 2023 X1 running iDrive 8. Pictures not my friend's X1, but he said they were from the installer dude.

I don't think I'm brave enough to try it. There are 5 or 6 different connectors or plugs that go into the wiring on the passenger-side footwell, as shown in the pictures below.

If anyone here can read Chinese, can you translate what it says on the module?

found a video of how someone installed a similar device, but everything is in Chinese. can anyone tell me what the guy is saying in the video?

it seems like this device has been out in China for a while... made by more than a few companies.(or it's the same device sold by different companies?)

Maybe bimmercomm is trying to do a similar thing but in English. I hope someone does it soon and make it available in North America.

Knowing China once installed they will know everything you do with the vehicle.

Toyota apparently is denying warranty claims if the vehicle has even gone over 85mph. They know this because the vehicle is always sending data back to Toyota. (look up Toyota GR Corolla fire warranty denial)

Sounds familiar... many things on BMW iDrive don't work unless the user agrees to having data sent back to BMW.

Just add a shortcut to disable start/stop? It only takes 2 taps with the shortcut.

No but using the vehicle settings menu button on the center console makes it a 2 step process.

Press the button and then select deactivate ASS from the main screen.

Hey man, first thanks for posting this. It seems like the most viable solution any of us are going to have to resolving this - is your buddy on the forum? If not do you think you can get him to register and make a post/answer questions?

Thanks!

long story short. the module went nuts after less than a month. my friend said "lights lit up the dash like it's christmas"(direct quote) probably not a good idea to install a no-name electronic box from China in a BMW or any modern car to begin with. at least everything was okay after they had module removed.

that's why I changed my mind and decided against getting it.

For anyone keeping track, the bimmercom.io site was updated, with the email signup page taken down and a stylized ODB port logo added.

Thanks! I sure hope that doesn't indicate anything ominous.
