Hey guys.

BMW leaser for the past 4 years, X3 m40i and now an X4 m40i. And now my X2 m35i is about to port in LA. I'm going to finance it, and for the first time do some typical vanilla flavored mods.

I've attached a screenshot of an email I got from the guys at German Car Accessories, who just today suggested that the downpipe for the F39 is compatible with the U10. They used my VIN# to check. Their aftermarket catted unit happens to be $1000, meanwhile there's one for $380 on Alibaba.

Anyway, does anyone have anything to comment about this? Does it check out? I hate to spend the $400+ only to have it not be compatible. And be stuck with it.

And yes I'm giving up the b58 x4 intentionally. I like the size and the appearance of the X2 better. I also test drove one and felt that after it gets moving, it wasn't significantly slower than my x4. That being said... off the line is a different story! I will miss having my neck broken when launching.

I just purchased my x1 m35 and I was wondering the same thing about a downpipe. Could you please send me the alibaba link where you found the downpipe? Thank you.

I'm a bit skeptical about them being the same, though it *may* fit. Thing is, is that the X4 is a longitudinal oriented engine and RWD, and the X2 is a transverse mounted engine and FWD based. It might fit, or it might be off just slightly enough to cause problems installing it. If you want it that badly, you could take the chance and be the guinea pig for everyone else. $380 for a decent downpipe is cheap!

I was also confused at first but what the OP is saying is last model years x1/x2 downpipe should fit. Unless I’m totally wrong also haha. If true that would be sweet, I wonder if the charge pipes could also fit.

Ahhh, gotcha. I guess I didn’t properly read that all the way through. It has a better chance of fitting, but still taking a chance.
