I purchased an X1 last August with SensaTec seats can someone recommend a product to treat these seats and how often it should be applied. Does this product last as long as leather? What are the pros and cons of this material?

As for cleaning, you could use a leather cleaner like Lexol, or just use a damp rag with a little bit if dish soap or other mild detergent. It's synthetic, so you shouldn't need to use a conditioner on it, like you would with leather.

You can use a leather cleaner or a APC. It's very easy.

I use Gyeon Interior Detailer on the inside of my car. Works great, doesn’t leave a residue or a shine. Since sensatec is synthetic, it doesn’t wear the same like leather does and doesn’t require as much care. In my last car, it seemed to have less stretching over time and overall showed less wear than my previous BMW that had leather.

I use CarPro CQuartz Leather 2.0 on my Oyster colored Sensatec seats. They do seem to resist color transfer from jeans so far. Not exactly the best comparison ... my kids' slime doesn't seem to stick on as much compared to the fakish leather seats in the Merc without these coatings.

I plan to apply them every 9 months or every 10,000km-ish

Lol no. It's like this gooey toy that's made of a bunch of household chemicals. It's all nice and fun until they bring it into the car and lets it dry on the seats ...
