I've had this message before! The service center told me this happens most often cause the front camera on the windshield is covered in a smudge or is dirty! Try wiping it off and see that if that fixes the issue! It did for me. (It's right where the windshield wiper doesn't reach)

Yep, probably half a dozen times. Each time the cruise control didn’t work but a restart fixed it.

More concerning, the car had an issue when trying to pull into a parking spot the other day. It gave an audible collision warning when I put it in reverse and activated emergency braking. From there, it refused to go into reverse. As a result, I blocked the whole parking structure, not able to park. Luckily, I had a passenger and was able to pull into the spot with only an inch to spare. Not sure if these things are related.

Yes, I've seen this a few times over the last few months. It seems random and I don't think it's related to being dirty as the dealer said. All times it has happened my car has been clean. Most recently it worked fine for 6 hours of driving, then started after that for the final 2 hours. Another time it was when driving directly into the sun. Turning the car off and and on again didn't immediately clear it and we had to drive the final 2 hours without the driving assistant feature on the highway.

I'm on iDrive 8 version 07/2023.45 and am hoping the dealer has an update that will fix it.

I'm very disturbed by the "permanently restricted" part....

"permanently" seems to imply that even if you take it to a BMW dealer and have it checked out, the function will still be restricted permanently?

hope it's just BMW's software engineers at their new location in Bangalore(India) not using the proper words?
