I have! It's happened twice to me. Both times I couldn't engage the reverse gear.

Man, I've had this show up on my x3mc many times. I just shut the car off and restarted w/o issues. I always mentioned to the dealer...they scanned, no issue(s) found.

EDIT: not yet though on my wife's x1

so is it safe to ignore it until it's time for service, then mention it to the dealership?

Unless it happens again or happens with some frequency, I wouldn't worry about it, personally. Glitch in the matrix as it were...just keep note of it and mention it when you're in for next service...they'll scan to make sure all is well

Garage List
If it appears and then goes away, I think it's safe to ignore. I got something similar; and then yesterday, the car would not let me back out of my garage saying that there was an obstruction detected, but there was none. Put it in drive and then reverse again, and it was fine.

Noticing lots of glitches like this,

Mine sat in the dealership for almost a month and twice for this issue! First time they said was faulty software, second time was changing transmission fluid. They said it "should" fix it. Not sure though. Mine wouldn't let me engage shift lever R! And it reduced performance. They definitely saw an error when they scanned it
