2023 xDrive28i's still in-transit?
Hello, first post here. I was looking at MY23 X1 xDrive28i's thinking I could get a deal since they are last years model, but I got the spec sheet of one that said production date was 10/23/23 and I saw another spec sheet for a MY24 on 11/4/23. And at other dealerships, I'm seeing a handful in-transit.
Should I just buy a MY24 if dealers aren't offering any incentive to buy the MY23? For some reason, there's a lot of MY23 inventory in the northwest area of the US. Thanks! |

MY24 production began in late October, so most MY23s would’ve been delivered by now. It’s possible that last batches of MY23 are still arriving on the West Coast, but not too sure.
The main advantage to getting a MY23 is that it’s about $1,000 cheaper MSRP, and if getting an M Sport you’ll still get the space saver spare tire (now swapped for the Mobility Kit on MY24 with M Sport). I would assume dealers might give a better deal on MY23 to clear their inventory. MY24 has the latest iDrive 9 infotainment operating system (now Android based), with improved UX, including quick access controls for AC and seat heating etc. It also has AirConsole gaming and video streaming capabilities. Another benefit is that it will be eligible for future enhancements and features that BMW is planning, such as Alexa/AI powered voice control processing etc. MY23 will be on iDrive 8 and seems to be getting fewer updates. That said, there’s a lot of chatter about CarPlay connectivity issues in iDrive 9, which upcoming software updates will hopefully address. Last edited by mktrn; 02-08-2024 at 11:28 AM.. |

Thanks for the info. When the sales guy told me that the '23 had just arrived, I was surprised. And then to see the production dates be so close to the '24 date, BMW must've had extra components to build out the '23 then. But since they don't seem motivated to incentivize selling the '23, I'll probably focus my attention to the '24.

I got one of the last 2023 production X1 msport and really enjoy driving it… I rarely change the settings and only use the built in nav and drive recorder daily

Anytime you buy a car that’s on a dealers lot you have a better chance at getting the best deal. I had one dealer tell me they don’t do any discounts on custom builds. Obviously I didn’t buy there.
