2023 GLA 35 or 2024 X1 confused

Thanks in advance for your opinions but I am debating between purchasing a new 2024 X1 ( all options available) and I found a 2023 used GLA 35 available.

I know that the 2024 will depreciate a little bit better than the 2023 MB ( some changes in the 2024 model)
I test drove both of them ... I like the X1 nimble feeling( lighter /"smaller" but the MB was nice to drive too.
Similar options and the price is almost the same. What do you guys think about it?
I know this is a BMW forum but anyone of you thought about the difference?
Thanks in advance for your opinion!

I did the same comparison. Bought the 2023 X1 M35i. No regrets (so far) 😆

So I was ordering a GLA in 2023 because I have a C43 sedan. The older x1 (prior to U11) when I went to BMW didn’t have the features I wanted and they said I need to go to a larger model. Long story short Mercedes kept pushing the order date (didn’t buy cars off the lot) and I saw the new x1 has everything I needed. Canceled the GLA and ordered a X1. Got it much faster. Having driven both. Honest comparison is that the X1 drives better and has more power. But I feel the Mercedes has a more optimized user interface and smothness in all the electronics features that the BMW is not having. But I love the x1. I also agree with others that the GLA is not as pleasing to the eyes as the x1 is. Both have their pros and cons. Keep in mind that I buy my cars fully loaded so it’s those features in the packages that am I comparing.

From what I've seen the MB GLA would be smaller inside and cargo area also smaller so not a good comparison IMO. I would think the GLB would be the comparable model to the X1.

my vote is for the one that was manufactured on German soil. Period.

having said that, I prefer the GLA over the GLB for some odd reason.

but here's mine:

I went from a GLA to the X1.. The GLA is a plusher ride and is still a fun car, but enjoying the X1 now.

Ride can be dependent on the rim size, now that there are such large size discrepancies.

Not sure about today's models but 5 years ago the MB felt great on smooth pavement but was very unsettled on rougher roads. I only figured this out after ignoring the salesman's directions and going to a section of road I knew was rougher. I bought the Audi as it had a MUCH better ride on broken pavement.

There are so many factors to consider, like if you want a plush and smooth ride go with gla, for firm ride go with x1. Bigger interior space probably x1. Depends on what you want

A bit of a slightly different comparison here, but I'll just chime just for kicks

I've compared EQA and EQB versus the iX1 in EV space. I feel the Mercedes Benz really shaves quite a bit of stuff that makes the overall experience less desirable compared to the BMW. For example, the lack of adjustability of seating angle on the EQB, more hard plastic materials, slower acceleration (0-60mpg in 10s), only 1 motor for comparable price, more jarring/lower quality ride, etc.

Coming from a 2016 GLC300 with about 60,000km, both the EQA and especially EQB are actually pretty poor relative to both the old GLC and iX1 in terms of quality. I feel like that Mercedes really drew the line and sacrificed the quality for profit of their A and B classes. C is on the fence, while E-class they are still pretty well made and designed.

BMW is a little firmer ride in comparison, but it's a "richer" ride I would argue.

I think it's a tougher choice between the X3/5 versus the C and E SUVs.

My wife has had 2 (current body style) GLA 250's. The first one we replaced because of knocking that they couldn't diagnose. The second got trashed by hail and we traded it once it was repaired.

I always felt like it was a downgrade from my X4M40i.

I was a Mercedes fanboy from 1981(or 1982) to 2001. Then the newer Mercedes cars and SUVs just uglier and uglier. Not to mention the downward spiral of their build quality, especially after I take away all of the interior panel to install car stereo. With all the interior removed, it was pretty easy to see that they went the cheap way.
