I dunno, I still get thumbs up from randoms and mine is just a C2S but I suspect the bright colour has something to do with it.

991.1 GTS with the 3.8L flat6 and 7MT is a compelling alternative and those values seem to be rock solid if not improving. Only issue is interior will be a bit dated

You people and your fucking interiors, are you a car guy or not? Just drive the dang car. I don't even turn on the radio. If you do go that route remember to include a bore scope in your PPI.

For me it's all about less distraction. Less beeps, less touch screen, just less hassle.

Reality is, most of the time spent in your car is just daily driving it in the interior. People want a nice enough place to be when they're doing boring commutes to work.

A 991 is plenty nice, just leave me alone, give me knobs not screens and I'm good to go. Ideally no climate control just a 4 click knob for air temp but that is likely asking too much these days. Everything else is fluff.

I'm with you on knobs not screens. But I'm team auto climate control..set it once and it does the rest forever. The mid 2000s to late 00s were the peak of automotive interiors imo for sports cars. Indo like the 991 interior too though over the 997.

It has more presence than you think. I bought my 2011 Cayman Base to impress no know one. It's a base Cayman after all. I got the car to try out a Porsche sportscar to see what all the excitement was about (at a low price), work on them, and drive them hard. The overall experience has been way better than I ever could have imagined. The biggest surprise for me is all the positive comments I get about the car and the rubber necking from all age groups. The car also brings a stupid amount of racing attention. Everyone wants to race it or at least hear it rip. I would have never thought this slow car would bring so much attention. Likely because most everyone assumes a Porsche 911/Cayman has supercar like acceleration

The 997+ cars have solid build quality. Most everything has heft and feels substantial while blending modern and minimalist with classis design. You can get them with leather clad everything, but if you plan to hold on to one for a long period of time with leather wrapped everything, be prepared to "pay up sucker" when that leather starts to peal and lift. Those leather clad panels are pricey as hell to fix/replace. Luckily, the interiors of these cars come a part pretty easily once you understand the process.

I've been working on my 2011 Cayman for the last two years and hang out with a group of local Cayman and 997 owners that do the same and we are all pretty impressed with the engineering of these cars. Porsche designed these cars to be easy to service and work on....at least up until the point they went with turbos for most models. The complexity of the turbo setups on these cars is a huge turn off for me. I can see the running costs of a late model turbo Porsche sportscar being quite substantial.

They're not distractions... once you get used to them. My g80 has a massive screen and a 6spd manual... the screen has never distracted me from rowing my gears or enjoying my car. But in the everyday monotonous maneuvers such as backing up, parking, or just general cruising - the tech and the cushy merino leather clad interior does wonders.

If i was instead shopping for a daily and a weekender... then yes I agree with you give me an analog only experience in my weekender. But the reality is it would eventually be a replacement for my g80, not an addition.

Having owned my G80 for nearly 2 years now - I totally understand what you're saying. Prior to owning one I'd hear people comment about how much attention these cars get and I'd scoff saying things like "calm down, it's not a Ferrari". Fast forward to now and I'm shocked how much attention it gets. Even more so shocked because people on this forum would have you believe it's the ugliest car to exist this side of a Pontiac Aztek. But it's been nothing but positive attention (+/- the people who want to race).

So I'm not surprised by what you're saying.

The g80 is way uglier than an aztek. Don't sully the already sullen name of the aztek by comparing the g80 to it, lol.

Ahhhhh you're planning to daily it? OK, so I can sort of understand the want for comfort but will argue all day tech is intrusive and distracting, especially if anything is controlled via touch screen rather than knobs and/or the car beeps at you or tries to brake/steer/swerve on it's own.

To be frank, listening to you as a buyer, you may be better served with a 992 but prices are buts even for a base, in saying that the base is much better than it ever has been in the past.

That's where I'm leaning... 992. Maybe in a few years the 992.1 GTS 7MT can be had for a "reasonable" price?

I think you maybe need to look for a "high" mileage base Carrera to keep budget in check, but ideally a long CPO left.

This could be a screaming deal if the O2 issue was resolved

MAF sensors are another issue with these cars, if they mess up the car sends you messages like it's going to spontaneously combust but you just need to clean the dang MAF.

So the blight on the CARFAX is culling that price by about $20K, with the right warranty it may be a bargain.

On second look I'm familiar with this dealership. They sell a lot of lemon cars, so many of their deals look too good to be true.

2016 BMW M3  [0.00]
I owned 991.2 T for about 4 years and recently traded it in for 991.1 GT3 RS. Also still have my F80 M3.

For those that are looking for performance value - it is impossible to beat the F8x cars. They still feel so capable and raw compared to G8x while much cheaper and provide more utility than 911.

The 911 really shines dynamically. The handling and feel is just on a completely different level vs the M cars. It’s really impossible to see just looking at a spec sheet. I had full leather interior on my 911 T with the 18 way seats. The build quality overall was better than F80 but certainly not twice the the price better.

Before i got the T, i test drove the Base, S and GTS variants including 991.1 GTS. The T is tuned to be more direct, raw and performance oriented by Porsche which you can only tell by experience. The car is also much louder inside than base Carrera. The .1 GTS will feel slower with NA motor but sounds MUCH better.

The 992.2 T will do very well as it has some cool available colors, unique interior etc. It also comes standard with many features like Sport PASM suspension, Rear steering, sport exhaust etc. I think it was smart for Porsche to separate it as Manual only and make it the dedicated enthusiast model. Also the 992.2 has the 992.1 GTS turbos and larger 6 piston brakes from 992.1 S. With a tune, these will be putting down insane power.

As far as price - you can get LC500, M2/M4 or Corvette Z06 for less but those brands are way less prestigious.
New AMG-GT 63 and SL63 are about $200k
AM Vantage is $250k
