X1 in the US only: does "Driving Assistant Plus" only work when cruise is on?
X1 in the US only: does "Driving Assistant Plus" only work when cruise is on?
I logged into my BMW acct and was about to click add to cart(the 3-month trial). It popped up a screen showing me the features and stuff... based on what I'm reading, it seems like all of the features only kick in when cruise control is activated? is this correct? in other words, if I do not activate cruise, the Driving Assistant Plus doesn't really do anything? |

That is correct. Most of the functions listed only become active when Cruise Control is engaged. The Lane Keep Assistant works all the time at speeds above 70 km/h in Europe, even without Cruise Control being engaged. Additionally, the Speed Limit Assistant can read roadsigns and display them in the instrument cluster without Cruise Control being activated.

It is essentially a fancier cruise control. All of those features only work in cruise control. For instance, the car wouldn't automatically keep your distance from the car in front of you at all times (only during cruise control). Maintaining speed etc is essentially cruise control.
