There’s lots of aftermarket wheels out there, but different levels of quality that would still be good enough for some, but poor for others.

go to tirerack.com and look at all the 20" rims they offer for the x1 28i. they include reviews by consumers, ratings, etc. Forged are usually the lightest and most expensive --- really not necessary but it is up to each individual.

In other threads pertaining to the M35 ride several mentioned experiencing a harsh & bouncy ride with the larger diameter wheel/tire set

BBS, Rays Engineering, Enkei, Work, are all well known premium brands that offer multiple pricing options. In general, forged wheels will be stronger while reducing unsprung weight, but will cost significantly more than a similar sized cast wheel. For me personally I only buy wheels of reputable quality and preferably forged. But it depends on your budget, so without knowing how much you want to spend, it’s impossible to narrow down recommendations as there are literally hundreds of wheels that will fit the X1.

You can click on my user name and view my previous posts for photos.
I have 19” BBS RGR wheels. My car originally came with 18” M Sport wheels, and I haven’t noticed a negative change in ride quality after going 1” larger.

Those are awesome. Any particular reason you didn’t go to 20”

Roads here are terrible, decreased sidewalk height offers less protection from curbs, tire costs get much higher, and I bought the wheels used and had them refinished at a significantly lower cost than if I had bought them new (though they are discontinued on this specific offset).
