Guys,

just a quick question. Just bought a new X1 30e (PHEV) and I am wondering how often I should change the engine oil. My BMW app says it should be done after 30 000 km or 3 years but I think it's too much. I was thinking to do the change no later than after 15 000 km. What do you think, any recommendations? Thx

All depends how much it's actually getting driven and what you are doing with it. Never had an issue following BMWs service schedule in any car, it detects the oil and if it needs changing sooner will tell you. With it being an EV the engine might hardly kick in at all depending on usage.

Only issue with an EV engine when they kick in they are often doing harder work but for my wife's car after nearly 9 months I think its only done 3 maybe 4 tanks for fuel, changing the oil would be pointless the engine has done that little.

Monty, thx for the reply. I am doing about 1 000 km weekly, half of it is on highways and I usually deplete the battery. So the engine is quite busy.
Anyway, I will give it some time and see if the car says anything about changing the oil sooner
