do owners of newer X1 find it annoying that there are no door pins?
When I dropped off my X1 for its first oil change service yesterday, I was given a dealer loaner. The loaner was a new X1 xDrive28i manufactured in 1/2024 with only 2600 miles on it. Man, people sure love to abuse these loaners. If I didn't look at the mileage, I would have thought that it was 2 or 3 years old.
Everything felt familiar to me, since it's identical to my own X1. However, I find it very annoying that there are no door pins. It makes it nearly impossible to tell if the doors are locked or unlocked. The little red LED between the lock/unlock buttons don't like up if the car is just sitting still in a parking lot. Do owners of newer X1 find this annoying as well? Or do you not noticed it since your X1 came like that? |

I have a 2024 iX1 and TBH I don't care about missing door pins. In fact, I think they are completely useless and even dangerous, as a car with pins is easier to open.
I haven't had a car with door pins since early 90s |

My 2019 Acura RDX does not have door pins either. Does not trouble me at all. It ALWAYS LOCKS when I step away from it & I have it set to lock when I start to move.
If I want it to lock before then, I push the “lock” button on the door. |

However, after they installed the new software(03/2024.37) on my X1 yesterday, a new feature was added to the My BMW app. Now I can remotely fold and unfold the mirrors. I have been playing with it more than a few times since yesterday. Doing it right now. I can see my X1 in the office parking lot below. I press/hold the button on my phone and watch the mirrors folds and unfolds. |

I mean, they are kinda pointless. You can't manually grab them to unlock (I don't even know what happens if you press down on the pin LOL). If BMW is looking for small things to cut costs, I'm all in favor of a useless mechanism that serves no real benefit.

They are useless, just something to run into when you place your arm on the sill. The Alarm light on the rear view mirror indicates that the car is Locked. Folding mirrors do as well if you have them turned on. I always thought they should replace them with a small LED that would flash red while locked, then flash green as you approach the car and unlock it.
