Effective sound deadening

Installed some T-shaped door seals today primarily to enhance the door closing sound, but was pleasantly surprised by how effective they are at reducing road noise!

Sound level before installation
  • At standstill: 40-43 dB
  • At 50kmh: 57-59 dB

Sound level after installation
  • At standstill: 36-38 dB
  • At 50kmh: 52-55 dB

Interesting! Did you stick it all around the doors or just at the top?

All around the doors. I’ll take some photos tomorrow

I saw this post before my X1 30e was delivered so I ordered the Leeko seal in advance since a 4dB (60%) sound deadening seemed well worth having.
I got my X1 at the very end of June and, 2 weeks later, I fitted the seal round every door by following the photos as best I could.
I did download a sound meter app but didn't use it for "before" and "after" (my bad). That said, I really don't hear any difference at all in the sound levels though I would have thought that my ears should notice a 60% sound reduction.
I did notice that, for quite substantial lengths, the Leeko door seal wasn't actually compressing agains the main body of the car.
Has anyone else tried the Leek seals and noticed a difference in the sound levels??

A few days after posting I also noticed that they’re not actually pressing against the body. I ended up changing the position to complement the location of the current of the original seals. This created a much tighter fit and better overall sound deadening, but it did lead to needing a stronger force to close the doors. I kept it like this for about 3-4 weeks but ended up removing it because the wife kept failing to close the door on the first go

My doors close too easily, they are slapping very easily. I might consider this fix to enhance also the noise suppression

I never noticed my doors not sealing well. But adjacent to this concern when I’m driving in the rain and I open my window I can hear a strange water bubbling popping sound like there is air escaping the seals where the water runs into the seams of the car. I might try this to see if it helps that issue.

Very good! But please note one more thing. It can eat paint on another side. I have seen a similar problem before. To avoid this, it's enough to put clear tape on another side where the rubber meets the door frame.

£50K plus for some of our cars and we’re having to install additional sound deadening?

I thought Audi were savage at cost cutting..
