iDrive 9 - Is it possible to turn the heated seat on based on rule
Hi all,
On ID7 it was possible to define rules for the heated seats or heated steering wheel to turn on automatically, based on outside temperatures. For instance I had a rule where they turned on when it was colder than 5 degrees celsius. Is this possible on ID9 ? I found nothing really relevant. Thanks, CJ Last edited by cjacoby78; 03-22-2024 at 09:48 AM.. |

It is a built-in behaviour as long as you use AUTO and not manual climate control option. That's how I use it, so when its cold it turns on max and when cabin gets warmer, it decreases and eventually turns it off. It also tuns on heating if increase the temp setting quite a bit.
It also turns seat/wheel heating on when preconditioning. I think I've never turned it on/off manually for the last few months - I just use the temp controls. To sum-up: there is no need to have rules as its smart enough to do it on its own. |

Just make sure that automatic climate control is turned on before leaving the car. If the weather is cold enough, the seats and steering wheel will heat up

It seems to learn what you do with the settings rather than follow any set rules. So put the seats / wheel on at a specific setting with X external temp and when you jump in doing the same it auto turns them on at those repeated settings.
Admit I prefer the way ID7 does it on my X3, below X temp turn the wheel on and at y or below set seats to low or whatever you prefer less guess work. |

Thanks, I'll try that. Unfortunately, it's still been cold enough here in NY that it's necessary, but at least that should give me a chance to make sure that works.
