Recommended maintenance

Is the recommended maintenance for the X1 documented anywhere? The owners manual says very little although it references a "maintenance booklet for US models" that I can't find anywhere. They don't even tell you the engine oil capacity or anything.

I'm guessing BMW still says the transmission fluid is lifetime and will refuse to change it?

Aside from engine oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid, there's probably transfer case and diff fluid that should be changed at some point?

my BMW dealer even told me that they wouldn't do tire rotation every 5000 miles, even on the X1 with 4 identical tires. because apparently somewhere there's a BMW memo that says tire rotation may cause other problems. (yes, even if I'm willing to pay them to rotate the tires) very strange....

That's really strange usually they push selling services like that when you go in. I'll have to see what the one near me says.

they had no problems trying to pull the "look at this, your air filter is dirty! we can change that for you for $120!" that was when the X1 had just 1000 miles when I brought it in for the first oil change(without resetting the counter). I know air quality isn't good these days, but a dirty air filter at 1000 miles is very scary...

Anyone knows how to tell when the X1 needs maintenance? I made an appointment with my local BMW because the app said that first oil change around 4K miles…. When I got to the service center the guy told me that it didn’t need anything since my milage was 4,600. He told me to wait when the car says it needs service. Is this accurate?

how many months?

my X1 is at 4000 miles after 9 months.

the app currently shows "Next services - engine oil - Due in April 2024 or 6,002 miles" I will probably just call them in April if the app doesn't alert me.

I bought mine in May 2023. I don’t drive it that much so it says May 2024 or 4K miles. But according to them still good until the car alerts me that it needs to be changed. Little confusing.
