Just wondering which nozzle/orifice size they used to get the 1800 psi claim?
From my experience,the higher the larger orifice size equals less pressure.H50

You'd need to run a smaller, not larger, orifice to get higher PSI and it will work the motor slightly harder. Keep in mind this will also reduce your GPM.

Probably won't get anywhere near 1,800 psi regardless of nozzle/orifice. Plus you don't need that much pressure for car washing.
What important are the good/high flow, orifice spray angle (40 degrees is highly recommended).

I like to use the RED 00040(.156) nozzle for the driveway wash and I just ordered a 00045 (.164),will I still get a good pressure with the new 45 nozzle?
My Ryobi came with an orange 00030(.141) and rotating nozzleThanks,H50

You might want to double check as that orifice size is way too large. As a metric, my PW output is 2GPM and I'm running 4.0...

I'm pretty sure (based on my amazon order history) that it's a 4.5, they have nozzles up to 6.0 on amazon.

I believe Obsessed Garage did an extensive project and tested most common PW. Do a search for Obsessed Garage "Watch the Pressure Washer Tests" and I am pretty sure he gave recommendations for Nozzle size.

As Phoenix mentioned, you should refer to the chart and get a new orifice then. You're running one way too large for your machine. I would guess it should be around 2.5 and not 4.5.

I went with a westinghouse pressure washer because the GPM was the highest of any cheap washer (1.76 - most are 1-1.2). I wouldn't worry about pressure, but I would reduce the orifice size (to 1.1 - usually they come with 1.25) for the foam cannon that you use. That's where you do want more pressure to get good foam. For rinsing, you want higher flow, not pressure.

For the 25/40 spray tips, I went with orifice 2.5 because it matched with my specs (1.76 gpm, 2100psi) based on hydro mtm's calculator website. But I'm thinking I will try 3.0 to reduce pressure further.

However, I don't mind slightly lower flow when rinsing the car off as it should increase the effectiveness and extend the life of my DI resin :P

According to my calculations, my setup would yield me a pressure of 280psi with a GPM of 3.02.

Is that GPM even possible for the ryobi’s rated 1.2?

Oh well, been using this setup for a while now and it works pretty well.

Pretty well is relative I guess. You have abysmal pressure and you're not going to get much higher than manuf. posted specs so you're reducing pressure for no reason. 6.0 orifice is for gas PWs but you can do as you please.

Huck - as much I don't like OG's channel, he has a posted spreadsheet with orifice sizes based on actual testing. Looks like you should be using a 1.7 orifice for 1K PSI and 1.4GPM. Do not waste your time with 4.0 etc

I am talking about the RED nozzle only which is 0 degree,orifice sizes I have in RED are 4.0(.156),4.5(.164)...have not tried the 4.5 yet.H50

I really don’t like rinsing with a pressure washer. The flow just isn’t high enough unless you have a really big pressure washer. Get a nozzle from Eley Hose. The shower nozzle provides a very laminar, high flow rinse stream. Their products are built very well from heavy bronze and stainless components. They are serviceable as well. I use a pressure washer to pre rinse and foam but switch to the hose and Eley nozzle for rinse.

Even if I get 800psi when using the larger orifice RED nozzle,it still gets me about 10 times more pressure than my house spigot,just not the volume.H50

. He reviews this pressure washer with different tips. I don't think that the pressure washer obtains 1800 psi, but it gets close (~1700) with the tips provided with the machine.
