My BMW App not updating.

Hi, has anybody been having problems with their app not updating. Mine is recording the journeys ok but Vehicle status showing Range, State of Charge and Fuel Level has not updated since 24 June.

I’ve tried logging out of the app and repeated refreshes but still not updating?

Hi. My App is upating okay. No consolation I guess.

Yeah it's working fine, just make sure you have accepted the sharing / privacy etc. in the car as well as in the app. If one is done and not the other it has a hissy fit.

Once it was sorted then its been faultless and hasn't failed to update once since then.

Actually edited to add that it's not updated since yesterday, journey data is fine and up to date but the actual charge etc. that is normal updated isn't, but until yesterday hadn't seen that before.

I can’t get my digital key plus to work, unsure about deleting all keys and factory settings incase I fcuk something up! 🤷🏼

I had to reset the digital key registration process from inside the car itself to be able to pair on the app

Funny thing, mine was working fine until last week until randomly it decided to reset the digital key on its own. Thankfully I had the key card on me to get home and get the fobs to restart the registration again, and then tie it to my profile. It's been working fine since then, but I hope this doesn't become a regular occurrence.

I had this a few times on the 3 series and ended up doing a reset of the iDrive and that seemed to sort it.

I don’t think it’s a car issue it’s more widespread than that. Plus the car is still communicating. Updates on journey and what EV and ICE has been used etc. is all they’re fine. Just that the charge state and fuel etc. isn’t.

Brain fart at BMW infrastructure side if you ask me.

Mine is working ok so if it was the infrastructure I’d have thought that it would affect all users. It’s got to be worth a try and see if it resolves the issue.

It stopped updating app altogether on 23rd June.
Dropped Car at dealer this morning, they are keeping it for a few days, so will update when they get in touch

Hmm, seems to be working for some and not others. Wonder is it an app update issue depending on whether you’re using iphone or android? I’m using an iPhone btw.

Should have said, I’m iPhone 13 running ios 16.5.1 which was released 21 June and installation coincides with when “My BMW” stopped reporting vehicle status. So, maybe theres a correlation here?

Looks like an issue then between BMW and Apple - here’s hoping they get it fixed soon. I’m speaking to a BMW “Genius” later on an unrelated matter so will raise it.

If you have iOS 16.5 and still working be careful if you update to 16.5.1 which was released on 21 June - that seems to be the problem. Mind would be interesting to see what happens if you did.

I usually wait to update the OS on anything by a couple weeks to a month for this very reason. Last thing I need is for me to be unable to do work because an update broke my workflow, and this happened once a few years before the pandemic started and caused chaos.

Apparently BMW have now recognised this as an issue and are working on a fix from one of the FB posts. It does seem to collate with 16.5.1 updates on iPhone causing the issue but yet to be confirmed.

Hasn't actually caused us an issue as its only that part of the app that isn't updating everything else seems to be ok, mind you I haven't tired any onboard photos etc.
