Needs a system charge, compressor is failing and can't cool both compartments or coils on back or under fridge are so dirty system is overheating due to lack of air circulation. First thing I'd do is unplug fridge and clean coils with a soft brush - not a vacuum cleaner, because one wrong move with a hose tool can break the coils. Be gentle! Then plug it in, set the dials in the middle of the range, let it run overnight and check the temperatures in the morning. Look for 0 degrees F. in the freezer and 38-40 degrees F. in the fridge. If that doesn't work and your fridge is more than 15 years old, it's probably not worth fixing and you should buy a new energy-efficient model. Just the energy savings over the next 5-7 years should pay for it.

Hey man txs for the prompt reply
I noticed the following in the 4th picture that white cover in the fridge is VERY cold when you open the freezer door, there seems to be coolish air coming out of the vent which stops when the door is closed gonna have a look at the coils now Quote:

the coils where CAKED in dust, cleaned them switched on
there doesnt again seem to have any cold coming thorugh only when the freezer door is opened so still think I'm dealing with a jam/in the vent ? I think (so I've read) |

Been doing a lot of reading on this.
need to do some logical thinging here think first is to check 1> Damper control in the below picture the box though I couldnt remove the cover, I'm wondering if behing it is a damper control, I didnt wanna force it. I'm thinking that the top is not getting any cold, because it coming from below, that white box cover is very cold, so I'm guessing that the cold is getting there. I might see about removing the cover in the freezer, to check the coils and fan and see if it is obvious that the damper is viewable from the bottom, The problem may be two fold. 1. coils are frozen over, maybe ice has travelled up and gumed up the damper cover essentially jamming it closed. will try that tommorow |

Hi mate, I had the opposite problem with my fridge recently. Everything
in the fridge was freezing up. Turns out the little electric motor that operates the damper between the fridge and freezer had stopped working and left the damper in the open position. You'll have to pull out the interior of the fridge to get to it, but, I'll bet that's your problem. |

I have a 20 year old Sub Zero that is literally magical. Fruit literally does not spoil in it. Samsung? sure it looks cool, but the components suck

I have seen refrigerators with those features but haven't quite figured out why they are needed / valuable.

Time to get a new fancy Samsung french door fridge with water and ice service. One of those new ones with stainless steel finish and an app that lets you see inside the fridge from your phone and shop for groceries based on what the fridge tells you to buy.
