Help me purchase a wheel lock key adapter
I lost my wheel key when I drove away for a test drive. Shut up. Don't want to hear it.
So the box to my normal studs has the numbers "36 13 6 764 057". This leads me to believe that I have a 36 series 17mm stud, can someone confirm this for me? I attached a snapshot from realoem listing all the adapter codes and I don't see how it could be anything other than 36 since none of the other numbers match up. Thanks for any assistance! |

Edit: I just searched on Google for your P/N (36 13 6 764 057). You have the old style wheel locks. You will need to look through the documents in the box the locks came from to find the code card.

It basically looks like a spline gear. The center of the stud is has a 20 some tooth fine-ish spline, and the adapter has the matching spline teeth. BMW stealership said I should have a card somewhere that denotes the code, but I'll have to check manuals and stuff to find the card. |

Not that I would bang a socket on to a mounted lug, but either Jalopnik or Autoblog in the past few weeks had a video entry on how to socket the lock of the stud.

37 is mine. Card inside the stud box.
I'm just going to buy a new lock key and swap them out with regular lugs that are in the trunk. Should have done it before, but hindsight is 75/75. |

So, why did you lose it when you went for a test drive?

THIS is a good question. Ask him how he lost the first one too.

Do it pussy! I dare ya! First one I left on the stud after tightening down and drove off. This time, my neighbor commented on me leaving it on there and how it'd suck, so I know for a fact that I took it off, I just have no idea where I put the damn thing. |

I lost my wheel lock a while back and I ended up going to the dealer to get it replaced. They have this little box with all the different wheel locks that ever came on any BMW built to see which one would fit. They didn't have an extra of mine in stock so I had to order it. Ended up costing me $15 and it arrived 2 days later.
