good that you asked
this incident happened around 2004 March 8th Bertuzzi sucker punched Steve Moore a guy who cheap shot our captain and got away with it so the next time they met, there are lots of players on the canucks that were pissed off a lot of guys tried to fight him to release some anger but he didn't fighter anyone of them until he see one of the smaller player on our team when the big guy challenge him he just skate away so Bertuzzi as the Captain's best friend challenge Steve Moore and he wuss out and this is what happen also that steve moore is a guy that play cheap Sucker Punch Video Bertuzzi is suspended for 16 games and 1 year during the lockout when other players can go to europe to play and he can't now people are BSing about how he should be ban for life or long suspension no matter where he goes except Vancouver he is being boo so ya this is wat he did to our captain his dirty hit

If you let him continue playing after an incident like that, how soon until players decide to just whack people from behind with the goalie stick? The only place he should be playing any "sports" is behind bars.

well
McSoreley hit Breashear with a stick and Bertuzzi hit Moore with his fist one point you guys have to take notice is Breashear after being hit didn't get hop on by other players and after the Bertuzzi hit other players pile on Bertuzzi which was above Steve Moore McSoreley was at the end of his playing days and retired after the suspension

IMO he should have been banned for life. Period. It was a move designed to do nothing but harm someone and it succeeded, and for that he should have been removed from the game.
You want to protect your captain, give a good hard check or two. Play within the rules, even if the other guy didn't. What he did was inexcusable, regardless of who he did it to. He sucker punched him unconscious, grabbed his head and drove him face first into the ice. How can you POSSIBLY excuse an action like that? Oh and I thought that said hit was far worse than the McSoreley hit, but equally inexcusable. Both were thug moves designed to do nothing but intentionally, permanently harm a player outside of the rules of the game.

I don't think you should be blinded by your loyalty towards the canucks. When Claude Lemeiux (sp?) played for the Av's and layed a cheap shot on a Detroit player I never thought of him the same. It was a dirty play. These guys get millions of dollars and play a game for a living. I think they should be greatful of their abilities, and be glad they're not working 40+ hour a week jobs and just scraping by. If I did what Bertuzzi did to a co-worker I would be in jail.

OK
is not call blind loyality to the Canucks is the fact there is a law in a hockey game the judge is call the commisioner we follow him rule and there have never been anyone that been ban for life so I think the commisioner have a fair punishment and that's it ya what he did was wrong and out of hand but it happens he is not the first one and willl not be the last

And he shouldn't be the first or last to be banned from the game. If something similar happened in the NFL, like som quarterback didn't have his helmet all the way on and a linebacker sucker punched him like that, then rode his face into the turf, you would not see that player in uniform again, unless the uniform had his name over the front pocket, not across the shoulders.
If the bell rang, and as the opponent were walking to the corner, he got sucker punched and ridden into the canvas, there wouldn't be any more fights in store for that guy, and they get PAID to HIT each other. I was a King fan, but McSorely is where he belongs, regardless of his playing ability. Next time you are in the stands, take a look around and see just how many kids had to get there with their parents. Do we need any more violence of that type as they are learning to play by the rules? |

ok
something you guys don't seems to understand there were worst incidents in the NHL and they are not suspended for life how are you fans going say suspend him for life you guys want to make him an example or something let me give you guys some examples: Claude Lemeiux got 2 games suspension for a head shot to the board on Draper Dino Ciccarelli got slap a guy with his stick 2 times 1 day in jail Tie Domi suspended for 11 games because he elbow Scott Niedermayor in the head In 1994, the Avs assistance coach Tony Granato was suspended 15 games when he slash someone with his stick on the head Brad May when he was with the PHX, he two hand chop someone with his stick into the other guy's face, he got 20 games Dale Hunter was suspended 21 games when he cheap shot a guy on Islander after the guy score and hit him into the board Marty McSorley hit Donald Brashear and got 23 games I don't agree how you guys without looking at the big picture and say "I want him ban for life" like come on look at the above examples a lot of those after 16 games ( what Bertuzzi got ) was far worst even some of the lesser ones too and Bertuzzi got his right to play in europe last year ripped from him too I believe enough is enough is time for everyone to move on!!!
