Shameful, especially for the front door panel. I’m waiting for mine to be shipped this autumn and these news kind of bum me. |

I’m waiting for another user to post the part number in a different thread, I believe it will be very easy to retrofit the door sills and apparently they cost around 165 USD, I will keep you posted.

I haven’t driven my car in the dark for a while now but are the door trims not illuminated? Maybe I’m thinking of my last car?

If that’s the case it is really very poor of BMW to leave the glovebox unfinished like that. Nearly sounds like they’ve run out of a batch of lights and are just sending the cars out anyway. I would push for it to be fitted if the hole and wires are there.

At least in the US, the door trims are not illuminated and I believe they are just attached by adhesive.

more info here and here In my present BMW they sit in place using three plastic clips like these ones. In case they will come with clips i guess a mounting jig will be needed in order to make the perfect holes. or maybe an experienced car detailer/body shop can just glue them in the metal. what do you guys think? |

And even if for some strange reason they are using clips and you don't have holes, I'd much rather shave off the clips if needed and attach it with 3M tape.

Once the car arrives, I will definitely order them, I hope the dealer will provide them free of charge since it's about 160 euro in a 62k euro car. |

I can pretty much confirm that these are stick on. They’re e only a couple millimeters thick, hardly enough room to have retaining brackets for the clips. Pulling on them feels like they are stuck on with adhesive (how it feels to me anyway). There is a possibility that they have a plastic backing with integrated pegs, but I doubt it for 2 reasons:
-BMW is keeping costs down wherever they can. If the 35i has the sills and standard models don’t, I doubt BMW would make 2 separate body panels for such a minor detail. -Adhesive is much cheaper than manufacturing a sill with pegs (and the corresponding brackets to retain them). Using adhesive would also reduce any chances of rattling over time.

Thank you very much for your feedback, it’s very much appreciated.
I’m definitely planning on retrofitting those as soon as the car arrives. |

Just checked, they’re not illuminated. It’s the reflection of the under door puddle light on the trim when the door opens. I assume they are still at least fitting those?

I wanted to clarify the missing stitches from the front door panel.
It’s still there also in the MY24 if you stick with the Alcantara seats. It won’t be there if your order the new veganza or natural leather seats… You can double check this also with the online configurator… |

For those long-time BMW X series owners, what are your thoughts on the new U11 X1/iX1? I've only ever owned the last gen petrol X1.
I'm contemplating a new SUV EV to own outright for >7 years and deciding between a BMW iX1 and iX3, the iX3 is an older model but at least it has physical buttons to use while driving. Thoughts? |
