As mentioned above the Jan 24 car will be classed as 6 months newer or close as a valuation compared to taking a car in Dec. Plate changes they ignore more now than they used to and it’s more to the year of the car.

here in the US, a couple of 2025 models are just 3 or 4 months away... (for example, the 2025 Toyota Camry) |

Used then people will know from the Reg of the car and more which year it is. As for Dec or Jan and the price it could be £500-1000 difference when you come to sell it depending on the car in some instances, sometimes less; so its why many wait more now year to year than what used to be people waited for certain plate changes. |

Yeah in the UK the new year plate still has the most significant price difference. So the march uplift 23 from 72 for eg sees the highest price increase. The change in value from 2022 72 to 2023 72 is minimal.
Imo the Uk plate system is a bit “clunky”. It was brought in to smooth down the peaks in March and Sept registrations but is now a little messy. |

Advertising a January 2024 registered car as 2024 car is factual. Most of the general public probaby dont know the difference between a 23 model as opposed to a 24 model so unless there were significant changes noone really advertises the MY.
And yes the plate changes do make a difference but the only month that makes a difference is December to January when theres the physical year change. Obviously some buyers are not too bothered about the March and September plate changes in the UK or even the year of the car, but car dealers are as the cars are worth more to the trade. Personally id rather have a 2024 registered car than a 2023 car but to each their own. Quote:

It's now at status 190 so it's in transit. I've seen a post on a face book group for Ix1 owners where someone has received a new car last week and they have an updated grill, which is reflected on the Configurator but not the BMW app so also trying to find out if mine will be the same. The BMW app does however also show that mine has the door locking pins, so I suspect it's wrong and it's just not been updated to properly reflect the cars appearance. |

Picture of the updated grill here, as per usual dealership has no idea about this…
had to post the link, for some reason the image doesn't work when uploaded, it just shows as blank. View post on imgur.com |

I don't really mind either way, I like the other one too. I guess this is just a way to differentiate between the EV and non EV variants.
I just find it really frustrating that no one appears to know what will be delivered, it's not a BMW specific issue though in all fairness... |

If I’m not mistaken, any iX1 ordered as of October 2023 will get the new grill

Mine was built on the 7th of December, Ordered in mid November so I'm guessing that it will have the new grill. The only thing throwing me is how fast it's gone from order to build complete. Usually it takes a few months, this was only a couple of weeks

I wouldn’t worry! Trsditionally, BMW were very quick with production. It’s only been since Covid that their production schedule has been in shambles. When I switched my order from the X1 30e to the iX1, my car was produced and delivered within 1.5 months.

The premium manufacturers are really starting to struggle to shift fully electric cars in particular this year and so they will be quicker delivering them in general than other tyoes. I would imagine some hefty discounts are possible too.

Not having been able to test drive an X1 20i prior to ordering, the exact specification such as door locking buttons etc and driving experience is going to be a surprise, hopefully a pleasant one! |

I can't believe how quickly it turned from short supply / high demand post covid, to over supply / low demand currently. Just over a year ago you could sell some used cars over list, and now you can often take your pick of unregistered cars being sold with large discounts. However, my experience with getting the X1 30e is that demand is still strong and supply quite limited. Waits for build slots if ordering new and only a handful approved used.
