I had something similar to this but stopped using it after a while as I now place a tissue box in that space. The front portion of the space is still free for smaller items though!

X1 not listed on their site yet in terms of licensing. Also as far as I know these ecus cannot be cracked yet to tune. At least not without a bench unlock by FEMTO in Europe (mail in your ECU).

I have also been told these cars are so connected that 2 issues arise around tuning. First is that things may ping BMW if they are flashed on the car, which was only something you used to have to worry about when the dealer plugged the car in at service. And the second (not sure if this is a real concern or me overthinking) is that if there is OTA update, it may try to overwrite something that’s part of the flash which I assume would be bad. I would have thought the OTA updates were only idrive related but I know one of the updates recently mentioned an update related to brake cooling. So it’s touching more than just the idrive itself.

Something like a JB4 may be a more near term solution to extract more power. That said the JB4 isn’t the ideal way to tune IMO since you’re essentially feeding the ECU false values in order to make more power. To each their own but not my preference.

I was on the verge of buying these instead of the gloss hub caps, especially since the 872M rims are matte! but then thought about long term durability. I’ve never had matte paintwork or hubcaps, but I am not sure if the matte hub caps will be prone to the same fate as matte paint in terms of scratches, paint chips, and developing a sheen over time from the shampoo. (Might need matte-specific cleaning products)
If you do go for them, send photos!

Just spoke to the guys at Rigakit. The matte products are actually more durable than glossy

Just placed an order for them for my incoming summer 872M wheels

I was just looking at these 3D printed ones yesterday.... looks kind of cheap, but I'm intrigued by the color possibilities.

They look terrible and cheap 🙈 🙈

I would pay a little extra and get something that lasts (and looks good!)

Rigakit has 3 year fade warranty and you can choose to really customise the roundel by opting to get it VIN colour-matched. Or even two tone like I did

I could 3D print much cleaner than that, looks like they were printing for speed and not detail with those samples.

Mine are the 871M 19's. Skint after Christmas, just don't think I can justify £130 on cosmetics for my car lol. Having said that it's payday on Friday

Bought side skirts from Maxton Design. High quality, easy to install, and they come with all the screws you need

Surely got an additional 5 BHP now

Nice! About how much ground clearance do you lose running those skirts? Are they a noticeable difference in ground clearance compared to the bumpers? Hard to tell from my phone looking at the photos.

I would say about 7cm. But I’ll go and measure it to be sure. I’ll get back to you.

In comparison to the bumpers, they’re slightly lower, but definitely not so noticeable. Looks like they came as a set. I’ll send more pics. I’m tempted to buy the Maxton Design splitter, but I feel it might be overkill on the X1. It’s growing on me though

I’m tempted to mod the X1 more, but really shouldn’t as it’s a lease, and right now I don’t feel enough love toward the vehicle to buy it out at lease end. All my extra time and money is going towards restoration and mods for the ZHP I picked up recently lol.

Front splitter sits at 20cm clearance (original at approx 23.5cm)

Side skirts sit at 17cm clearance (original at 21cm)

If it’s a lease and you’re not feeling like you want to buy it out at lease end, then leave it as is. Wouldn’t you have to pay for the replacement parts that you screw into?

Depends on how much you have to modify the original parts. My dealer is relatively lax on stuff like that. If it’s not visible standing near the car they don’t really care. My first BMW was a CPO e92 that I later found out had previously had a piggyback installed, I quickly sold that car after a few months and I hear the next owner had to deal with some bad turbos. They’re also supposed to strip the tint as part of the CPO process but my f32 still had the tint on it when it was sold to the next guy.
