I tiny update ,once the weather got warmer I am getting really good mileage driving on emode.
Yesterday i managed to travel 96km or 59miles electric only…some city driving and some country road.
Once the outside temp started reaching 20 degrees C definitely it extends the distance.

So far 5000kms and it is really a great choice

Do you charge your car over regular wall socket, or over WallBox charging station?

Best regards

Low demand I presume, if BMW think they can sell them in volume they would be asking for them. There must be a cost to approve new models in markets.

Does power goes down when batter is low? Or is the acceleration always the same (+/-) for 30e? Thanks

Also do you think that it makes sense to run it if I charge only occassionally, so can it run as self-charging hybrid, I guess so.

You will never get enough juice from self-charging. Plug in hybrids have a significantly bigger battery that cannot be maintained with the regenerative features of the car. It needs to be plugged in.

There was a video that showed the 30e does better than the 25e when the battery is low. That being said, if you opt for a PHEV and want to use it at maximum capacity, then you will need to make sure the battery always has enough power for your trip. If the battery runs out, you are left with an engine that will not perform anywhere near the figures you’d get when combined with the battery.

Power ultimately doesn't drop its not endless, and there is 'some' self charging but it doesn't do it by default there is no mode that does that.

Some have found putting it in sport has helped to put charge back into the battery but we haven't tried that as we haven't needed to.

I mainly drive on electric with my 30e but recently on my weekly 40 mile round trip I had forgotten to charge overnight resulting in aquoted 20 mile electric range when I started out. On the return trip with the battery showing zero miles the car still started off in electric mode before switching into petrol. Throughout the return journey the battery range continually alternated between 0 and 1 mile with drive switching between electric at lower speeds and petrol at higher speeds. At no time was there any sense of loss of power on acceleration so clearly the electronics are smart enough to manage the drive system to maximise power when called upon. No idea how it works but it does.

As said in other comments this is a plug in car and to work at it’s best does need to be plugged in to get the best from the battery. If you don’t have the ability to plug in then consider either a petrol/diesel or a self charging hybrid.

I was advised that even if it says 0 miles that doesn’t mean
the battery is empty as by default it will maintain some charge
and presumably the self generated charge that it does produce
would be used to top this up prior to showing up as additional range.

Don’t know how much this reserve is but presumably it’s so that if you need full beans or 4 wheel drive it has the capacity to do this.
It would be a very rare situation on the road that you would need
full power/torque for a sustained period of time.

Yeah that's right the car is 4wd as an xdrive so as a result it always has a little in reserve if that requirement is needed if nothing else. So when the drive off support is need in snow for example.

Hi guys!

I have my X1 e30 (2023) with 10000kms now (7months).

Pretty happy with electric autonomy: I use it from 95% to 10-20%, and usually make it +75kms to 70kms with full electric in normal mode. Temperature really affects the autonomy. +30º kills it. The car is a really beast in sports mode

One thing that i'm missing: what the hell is iconic sounds? I have mine on, but i cant tell any difference between modes, neither any sound when driving in full electric. If i turn off the music, I ear nothing.

I can only hear a sound with I turn on the car and he is ready to go.

At BMW, i have been told that the feature it's only for eletric cars. I asked: so why I have "iconic sounds available to on or off", they said "we dont know"; oh boy..

cheers

Mmm the iconic sounds are quite clear on ours are you sure it’s enabled on yours, assume yes if it’s in the menu?

The default provides a Hans zimmer sound and that then varies, expressive is much more pronounced than the others as you would expect. But you can certainly hear it when you put the foot down as it zings along under acceleration on battery.

Hmm, I suspect a problem with my x1 then.

I will make a video tomorrow. If someone is kind enough, could you please make as well a short video? So I can show it at the bmw garage.

Thanks!

If you are driving under battery power only/rear wheel drive with the driven wheels on a slippery surface, like ice, would the engine fire up to drive the front wheels as well to see if there is grip to be found and use the car as a 4wd?

Potentially I suspect it's an xDrive car so should use all 4 wheels when required. Would be interesting to see what happens if drive away support is selected and its icy what will happen.

Is “drive away support” a selectable setting for adverse conditions?

Guys, can you please check if this is the normal behavior of iconic sounds? I think mine as a problem/issue by not playing any iconic sound.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/tr3drW9EOow >> start and stop (here you can ear an iconic sound) + showing that the iconic feature is set to ON.

>> accelaration using full electric + expressive mode; you hear nothing at all
