Missing Key card during delivery - USA X1 2023
Hi all,
I recently picked up my 2023 X1 Xline and have it specced with all the options (Premium Package) including the Digital Key Plus option. However, when I picked up the car there was no NFC keycard provided, the only options are the two Key fobs and digital unlock using iPhone or Android (Samsungs etc.). Has anyone in the US picked up the car and received the NFC Key Card? If so, was there an option that you had to purchase? My dealer is looking into it but aren't sure if the 2023 X1 comes with a NFC Key card. Thanks |

When we picked up my wife's car a couple of weeks back the operation of the digital key (NFC card) was demonstrated so, yes, we received one with the vehicle. It's not listed on the window sticker or the vehicle inventory so not sure what causes it to be included.

yes, the digital key card is included. unless your BMW dealer only sells 5 cars a month, how can they possibly not know this? perhaps you should also look in the trunk to make sure that the spare tire and all the tool are in there. |

as long as you're looking, check under the front seats, floor mats, glove box, or even the door pockets. (although I'm not sure how the dealer could have missed it when they were prepping the car for delivery)
I think the key card for X-Line is black which may be hard to see if it fell under the seats. I have the M Sport version so the key card is white with the M logo. Last edited by SpaceSilverX1; 05-14-2023 at 03:21 PM.. |

Hold on a minute.... did you say the spare tire and the tools(in a foam holder) are missing as well? That doesn't sound good. What BMW dealer was it? I can't believe any reputable BMW dealer will allow the car to be delivered with all the accessories/tools. Edit: do you have the standard 18" wheels with your X-Line X1? I'm asking because I remember reading somewhere that the wheel covers were missing during delivery as well. |

Yes, the standard 18" wheels with X-Line X1. The wheel covers are there. The dealership is following up. Unsure what happened here kind of disappointed right now as I was so excited to pick up the car after months long wait...

I can get how a digital key card can get lost, misplaced and even overlooked during delivery... but the OP also said he was missing the spare tire. Nothing really surprises me these days. I bought a LG TV recently and the remote control was missing. Not really a huge deal, except that the only way to resolve it was for Costco to come and pick it up and deliver me a new replacement TV.(checked to make sure the remote was inside before they left)

Update: My dealer is saying no key card and apparently I have to order the spare since I have run flats (my purchase order says non run flats). At this point, I don't know if I have the energy to argue but was wondering if I should talk to BMW North America directly? Any suggestions or would you just leave it be if you were in my position.

Since you're not getting anywhere with your sales person I would send an email to the GM of the dealership cc'ing the sales person outlining what's missing, what should be there and how you want it rectified. Be polite but firm. eg. you want the stated non-runflats and a spare, along with the keycard. ...and given all you've already been through I'd be asking for some compensation too eg. discount on future service etc. (you might not get it, but better to ask). In the email I'd also ask them to provide an initial response within a couple business days. If you don't hear back, you've already spoken to the GM, or their response is insufficient escalate to BMW USA. Personally they sound like a shit dealer, so after this is resolved I would not go back to them for services if there are other dealers close by. I'd be petty enough to name and shame them on Google reviews... what kind of dealer doesn't even know what the car is supposed to come with smh. |

https://u11.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1940574 Tell the salesman to show you - exactly - how you go on BMWUSA.com and build an X1 with run flats. I don't see it available for any wheel size. Honestly, I would not only make them give you the spare - I'd make them swap out the run flats for non-run flats. And that certainly doesn't explain the lack of card key. As others have said I'd start to have some strong words with the dealer they are pulling your chain. They sometimes don't have a clue but as you can see here we often know more than they do.
I'd say you have a contract with the spec on the car and what it clearly includes and have a sit in somewhere nice and prominent in the dealer to conduct a nice loud chat with them. |
