Map and traffic updates are included with Connected Drive services in Connected Package Professional and expire after a number of years (4 years in my case), which has been the case with 2 of my previous BMWs, so this isn't new.

Gets me how different markets get different warranty terms and in this case you get a year longer than we do in the UK.

My thought was it coincided with the lease and subsequent Certified Pre-Owned timing in the US.

It maybe something that the lease company includes in the charges but the standard warranty and connected drive services here are 36 months.

Possibly, but I think it's just set by BMW USA because leases are so popular here (I'm leasing my vehicle as well), and selling a Pre-owned car is more attractive with all of the features enabled. Warranties differ by country, I think Australians get a better warranty that the US does if I'm remembering correctly.

does that mean after 4 years, my X1 won't allow me to use Apple CarPlay or the digital key(phone and physical card), unless I start paying them a monthly/yearly subscription? If so, how much do those things cost starting from month 49? thanks!

No, because those things don't require a connection to BMW. Those are there for the life of your car. If you log into your account on BMWUSA.com, you can go to My Garage and it will give you details of the features that will expire or require a subscription.

Complimentary service is 3 yrs/36K mi. The only thing that expires in 1 year is SXM.

And if we talk warranty to match rivals BMW now offers a 5 year warranty in Australia but still doesn't offer anything like that in most other markets.

Must be that when they ship the cars to Auz they give the nuts and bolts that little bit of an extra tighten...

Update: Again, thanks to those who responded and encouraged. While the spare tire mystery is now resolved. The key card is not.

I spoke to BMW North America and they said the key card should come with the 2023 BMW X1 if I got the Convenience or Premium Package (I got the premium). They said, send pictures of the card option within the car, if its greyed out then you don't have it. My car and app definitely shows the options - it just says activate by placing card on the wireless charger.

I have now sent the pictures again to the dealer, lets see what happens. BMW NA has said to escalate if I don't get a positive reply and they will step in if nothing comes of that either. So, we'll see.

I agree, I may not go back to the dealer after I have picked up my license plates in a month (have temp for now).

I also don't have the EU specced car, checked

although I heard there might be a better cup holder in that version arguably.

Will keep everyone updated either way. Thanks again

You’ve got it the other way around, the US gets the better cup holders.
