I have an Aug/Sep allocation, sheduled for production, wondering if it will come with iDrive 8, 8.5, or 9? In US, xDrive 28i, with Premium package.

Doubtful it will come with ID9 based on the earlier comment.

Seems not… who knows though. Have to wonder how good of shape idrive 9 will be in, even in November.

Hey all, I had a xDrive28i on order that arrived in the dealership today. Followed it on Fleetmon as it came thru the Panama Canal 18 days ago. With the news of the release of the M35i I canceled that car and placed a new order. Production slot confirmed first allocation after demo. I'm going to make somebody happy in Seattle when my originally ordered car comes available.

I had wanted the m35 back in March but was told they were unsure when it would begin production. The addition of the extra horsepower, M bits, ID9 and individual paint tipped the scales. Looks like I might get the car in November even with custom paint. What's a couple more months in the grand scheme of things?

Hi All,

I have another update, with the July-2023 Head units are also getting upgraded to "IDC23" which supports Android based OS ( which possibly means X1 users may get ID9 in future as their hardware supports it).

Is that country specific or all countries?

As far as I understand, if your headunit contains 5G eSim it should be the IDC23 model.. as that looks to be a major change started rolling out from July onwards and which also indicates that headunit has got an updated hardware.

*we can verify 5G eSim feature from VIN no.

You may try contacting another user on below thread:

pm him with Vin no, somehow he knows a way to tell if your headunit is mgu21/mgu22 or idc23 (Android based id9) ?

Please let us know as well if you get any info from him.

As an aside My system menu says id8 but is id9. There is/was an issue with Dealer Cockpit in which it fails to display the correct operating system. To identify the car on Dealer Cockpit as OS9 you can see against Communication unit and head unit it shows "IDC*. This will only appear for OS9 cars. Apparently WAVElow_IDChighf equals id9.

After a couple of early issues connecting Carplay my id9 is working fine with no issues.

Thank you! He says there's no info on the head unit yet as it's still "in process" despite being on the vessel right now sailing across the Atlantic. I wonder if that info gets registered or updated at the VPC?

Oh..okay

Mine X1 has prod date as 4th July on mdecoder and headunit details shared by him: "Your i-level is U006-23-07-525 and headunit is IDC" (which is an android based id9 device though I believe initially the software installed should be id8 and probably after November, id9 should come to Australian market)

3.) Improved rear headrest design (possibly aesthics change)
3.) Removal of light from glove box section.
4.) Removal of 'BMW' written sill plates from front doors.
5.) Dual stiching pattern modified to single (or partition less pattern) on the inside of front doors.
Do anybody have a picture of the front doors stiching before/after the update?!

The blue stitching is a really nice touch esp with blue interior lighting, shame that’s gone.

Can we buy a pair of door sills from BMW or anywhere and have them installed?

Man I really think BMW was diliberate in pulling a bait and switch on the U11. Release a brand new model with nicer finishes than an entry level should have, get the journos in a frenzy calling it a baby X5, then once opinions are formed, quietly do cost cutting. I sort of understood the door sills as they needed to leave something for the m35, but why cheapen the door panels? Why go to that extent? Shameful really.

As I said in another post I would have been a bit miffed if they just left a gaping hole where the glovebox light should be per the photo above. At the very least there should surely be a blanking plate? I’m wondering if this is maybe a quality control issue and it’s just been left out?

I’m just glad I got my car when I did.
