X1 30e vs iX1 - Which would you choose?

The X1 30e and iX1 have the same quoted 0-100km/h (62mph) acceleration.

The PHEV uses DCT (which hopefully operates better than the much complained about sluggishness in the ICE versions) vs the 1-speed electric transmission of the iX1

Which model would you go for?

Went for the iX1 because in the UK, it's a no-brainer for a company car. Otherwise would have gone for the 30e hybrid.

I went for the x1 30e. Same price as the iX1 and for a company car in Belgium is was the same for taxes etc…

I prefer the flexibility of the 30e (fuel and elec)

I went for the 30e, too! (Still on 047 since feb!!)

The price difference between 30e and iX1 in Austria is €6300. Was not convinced it was worth such a difference. But now with all the talk about the DCT, I’m wondering if I should change to the iX1.

How are you finding the DCT on the 30e? I heard the sluggishness isn’t nearly as bad as the ICE models

DCT: dual clutch transmission.

Here’s the thread about it: https://u11.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2006879

I would have thought that would be covered by the fact it's a hybrid?

Our iX1 is replacing the 118i we just sold. I think that had the 7 speed DCT and no mild-hybrid. It was very sluggish when the engine restarted. It didn't bother my wife but I would turn off stop/start or drive with the gear shift in Sport. Once you were rolling it was decent for a 1.5l.

If you have the Driving Assistance Pro, I expect it will be like on my M340i where the engine restarts when the car in front starts moving.

Never owned a plug-in before so I wasn’t sure if this would circumvent the sluggish DCT when restarting engine from standstill. If the auto start/stop could be deactivated permanently, this would be a huge plus. Just dreading that this has to be done every time I get in to drive.

I think you'll be fine. I know people who've driven the mild-hybrid say it's much better and probably why BMW removed the stop/start button on the 3 series LCI. I would expect a hybrid to be better as long as you don't drive around with a flat battery

Sluggishness none existent in the Hybrid as it relies on the electric motor to move off and at times won't even start the engine.

Agree with Monty, I use auto hold most of the time and have not noticed any hesitation at all.

Amazing! This was the biggest factor in considering to switch to the iX1, but now that you both said there is no hesitation, I’ll stick to the PHEV.

Thanks!

When the batteries weight is reduced 50% and the consumption not based on outside temp and how many times you accelerate hard and when the infrastructure is better and electicity is not that expensive when charging on a public station - iX for sure.

Till then the PHEV always...

Has the grunt, has the daily commute on edrive, same car - better range and i dont care how cold it is and if there is a charging station near me.

Especially when i travel to kite on islands - having electric car is 100% No go going to remote place - the same story.

So iX is great but the 30e is a straight in the sweet spot so i like my choice for having the 30e
