is "hey BMW" command supposed to work while driving?

is "hey BMW" command supposed to work while driving?

for some reason, it doesn't seem to respond when I'm driving. I have to press the mic button on the steering wheel for it to activate. I've even tried shouting "hey BMW" loudly, but still nothing. However, when I'm stopped, it does respond to my voice just fine.

Thanks!

yes. check your settings to make sure it's enabled. I have found that iDrive 8 is very glitchy, and sometimes settings change, particularly if you ran a software update.

Mine works fine without saying 'Hey BMW', I'd feel a little bit of a clown saying 'Hey BMW' every time I wanted to do something.

In my X1, I have to say "hello BMW" - not sure whether that's because it is a UK model, but it works whilst driving or stationary!

Not sure about idrive 8 but with idrive 7 you can give it a different name. For example my wife named our x7 maxi. So I just have to say "Hey Maxi". Hey BMW also still works.

Yes it should work fine. I changed my keyword from "Hey BMW" to "Stormy" since storm bay metallic and it has been working great while in motion and changing modes from personal to sport or closing the sunroof. This is even while jammin' out to some loud music.

Right - I think the system shows you are supposed to say "Hello BMW", but "Hey BMW" works for me as well. You can also program your own "safe word"....

I've been considering changing mine to "Baka" or "aho" . On a side note, I'm so glad for Apple CarPlay because prior to this whenever playing Japanese music the titles and artists would just show up as blocks lol.

ok, now I feel so stupid. I didn't know that I was supposed to say "Hello BMW"

m BMW CA always said "hey BMW" and it seemed to work for him. Maybe the BMW lady in the car just prefers his New York City Italian accent?

you mean when you only say "lower the temperature", the car will respond and lower the temperature? (without having to say "hey BMW" or "hello, BMW"?)

I think he means he can say hey BMW and not hello BMW to activate commands in the UK.

Hey BMW works for me, then the question.

There have been a couple of times …including one today …when all I had to say was “bmw” without the hey or hello and she wanted to know what I wanted her to do. I didn’t want her to do anything when it happened, I was just talking to my passenger when I said “bmw” during the conversation

had the same annoying issue in a leased Mercedes GLB250 before.

whenever anyone used the word "Mercedes" in regular conversations, the assistant would demand to know what we wanted. Last year, I drove my girlfriend's mother to the pharmacy to pick up her meds. I parked in the curbside pick-up space. She used her own phone(not linked to the GLB) to call the pharmacy. After she said "I'm picking up my order, last name Tojo(no relation), I'm in a little silver Mercedes SUV in parking spot 2", the Mercedes assistant came up and demanded to help... She later said "your car is broken, why don't you get it fixed or upgrade to a Lexus?"
