Windshield Wiper Speeds

Just got dumped with rain in NY this past weekend, had annoyances with the windshield wiper speeds even in regular rain but having it pouring really showed how annoying the speeds are.

On auto, it won't wipe fast enough sometimes, even at the highest setting. When the rain isn't pouring and I want a nice slow speed, the auto mode is too slow and the first manual setting is too fast.

Anyone else notice this?

I find most of the speeds are usually okay on auto and I have cranked down to the lowest setting, but occasionally it doesn't wipe fast enough in rain that is just past a drizzle. But I've also coated my windshield with the Gyeon windshield treatment and most of the time the rain just blows off at 40+ mph, so I don't use the wipers as much. Coating is supposed to last about 4-6 months, I'm 2 months in and it still beads water amazingly.

Does the coating work better than rain-x?

In my opinion yes because it’s more durable. Rain-X has always only lasted a week or two for me before needing a new coat. You could also try Gyeon Wet Coat, it’s like Rain-X but you just spray on while the car is wet and rinse off. Lasts about a month for me, I use it on the whole car. A little goes a long way so I spray the roof and rinse and it’ll bond on other panels it touches on the way down. Works great, just not as durable as the windshield coating because of the wipers.

It’s called Gyeon Quick View. On another note, check out Pan The Organizer on YouTube. I follow his channel as he’s got great reviews and instructional videos on all things car detailing. You can see his review for the Gyeon Wet Coat I use on the exterior of the car, it really is amazing!

For the most part I don't get any of that from the wipers, even when almost dry. The one day I did I think it's because there was something stuck on the wiper blade.

Tried that. As posted, regardless of setting, the autofunction pauses or doesn’t wipe fast enough in light rain, and the lowest manual setting is too fast for moderate rain. Guess it’s another personal annoyance I have to deal with like the heated steering wheel
