that's good but I don't get why there is basically no trunk space considering the vehicle size and UKL platform

Not sure about the removal of the iDrive rotary wheel though. I wonder if this will start coming to all the models in an effort to force use of either the touch screen or gesture controls?
100% agreed, for me it is a deal breaker on any car without a rotary wheel for the iDrive, depending only on a touch screen is very distracting

I've seen some noteable mis quotes of trunk space on official BMW specs in the last few years. I would give this a measure and calculate it yourself in person before passing judgement.

I think I read something about doing it in the lowest trims...but I think they said the Idrive knob is here to stay...it works well as others have copied it
Let's hope that is the case! 🤞🏻

The tablet dash looks a bit better here than the 3 LCI. Probably because they designed it with the tablet in mind vs a retrofit. It also is shaped differently than a literal long rectangle.

We bitch and moan about FWD-based but this will sell in droves to the masses who aren't on the forums.

Overall, I really like it and a breath of fresh air from the 7 series debacle. Makes me excited to see what the next X3 could look like.

I fit a fullsize futon mattress in the back of my 2016 x1. You can put a surprising amount of stuff in them. I can't imagine the new one will be much different.

While I'm digging it quite a bit. I gotta agree. Why the reluctance to selling the Ix1 in the US? It'd slay. We need an alternative to the Model Y I'm tired of seeing that ugly egg on the streets with no real EV alternatives out there that don't equally look as ugly.

Anyone know if the plug in Hybrid at least will make it to the USA?

Very wise of you. If what you want is a Skoda you definitely shouldn't buy a BMW.

Actually either Aisin auto or Getrag/Magna DCT depending on engine, IIRC.

Because no one wants an EV with tiny range in NA. Most new EVs for the US market are around the 300 mile range.

I love the looks of this new X1. I owned an F48 and loved the size. My biggest complaint was the lack of a more powerful engine choice. I then went to a G01 X3M40i because I wanted more power but I always missed the smaller size of the X1. I now drive an EV 😂

I found this surprisingly informative overall. But I haven't looked for this car at all until today.

Love the styling! It'll take me a little while to get used to the upside-down angel eyes though.

This almost looks the evolutionary successor to the OG E53 X5. I wonder how different in size they are? Are the dimensions to the U11 published anywhere?

Got to say, if I were in the market for something of this size, this would be perfect. Absolutely love what they've done with the exterior.

What's going on with that phone placement though? Behind the cup holders???

It's a shame that the 2023 X1 M35i is rumored to be released much later.. should have released them all together.

For this price point and size, I'd absolutely take this FWD-based AWD with a dual clutch over a 2023 M235i or an X2.

Completely agree. I think a ~270-mile range AWD iX1 priced around ~$45k would be a great sell here in the states. Plus its a way of boosting the luxury in a car of a lower class since it removes significant NVH from the cabin and smooths out the powertrain.

Would you rather buy the CRV or X1? I understand CRV is a bigger vehicle, but it's in the same price tier.
A loaded CR-V Touring is a few thousand less expensive than a base X1 with no options. Comparably equipped the X1 is probably $10k more. We'll see when we can build one in the US.

Not the same size class though, CRV's a compact SUV, and X1 is a sub compact.
