I don’t have ID9. My ID8 was updated to a newer version of ID8.

hey vikas, I have just asked ramparts to check the HU of a fellow X1 owner from Italy (production date July 25th) who has all the MY24 specs (no sills, no glovebox light etc.) and the answer was:
Head Unit High 4, Running U006-23-07-525
Do you have any idea which one is this?
Thanks

Hi,

I would suggest to check "Radio transmission license texts" pdf for your VIN, which is available in BMW Guides App.

1.) please check in the "Infotainment, TV" section for mention of "IDC23" which indicates id9 support & hardware compatibility.
2.) Also, if "Antenna and Amplifier, LTE-Compensator" section mentions 5G frequencies.

Both of these are additions for new head-unit in MY24 models.

Hey,

I just verified, "U006-23-07-525" is idc23 headunit.

Not sure if this is ID9 specific, but I have another Issue with Android Auto, after we had it working for a while.

For the last few days my wife has been unable to connect via AA and gets a message "To use Android Auto park and follow the instructions on your phone" on the HU display. Problem is there are no instructions on the phone at all, phone shows it is connected.

We rebooted the phone as well as iDrive, but nothing changes. Parking Brake is on, but seems the car believes it is not parked. Anybody else had this Issue? If so, how did you resolve it?

I know I could remove the wife's profile, but as she is the main driver it is a bit of a hassle to do this constantly, as it involves making me the new main driver, to remove her profile, set it up again, recreate her shortcuts and then to make her the main driver again.

Could you go into the mobile devices menu and just delete the phone and re-add it? I've had to do this on occasion previously on my F32, and once on my X1 when CarPlay wouldn't work with my iPhone.

Those with iDrive 9s, how does it compare to iDrive 7?

I'm contemplating a new car to own outright for >7 years and deciding between a BMW iX1 and iX3, iX3 is an older model but at least it has physical buttons to use while driving. Thoughts?

We have X1 ID and X3 ID3, we both miss the buttons in the X1 but the jog wheel even more than that. Is it a deal breaker no, but the quick select buttons and the wheel go a long way to creating a better simpler UI to interact with when driving a vehicle.

Thanks, do you have any issues with the new iDrive 9? Do you prefer it overall compared to iDrive 7?

We have ID8 on our X1, it's not bad, works and there are a few minor issues but nothing really bad. It's just more of a hassle to use and interact with than the physical buttons on the previous X1 and X3.

Have lots of tech and much of it makes your life easier, but in the X1 it's a little form over function, I think some of these things will go full circle and more buttons might come back but we shall see.

Has anyone with ID9 had the July update that was supposed to add augmented view to the satnav… or any updates for that matter?

If we think subscription is bad on a BMW - how's about not giving a car Sat-Nav and you have to pay for it post purchase.

New update downloading OTA called 07/2023.53… says in the release notes that quality is improved for things like lane guidance and driving away from stop/start. Will be interesting to see if Drive Recorder and augmented maps appear… will let you know when it has installed.

So, in a nutshell, don’t install it… mine failed and the car is totally unusable… even the boot doesn’t work. Roadside assistance are coming and said they had a few similar calls today. An hour and a half later and it looks like BMW have pulled the new software available message from the app… yikes.

I have no issues with id9 so frankly I probably won’t update it unless i’m sure that I won’t be a Guinea pig for the BMW roll out!

Quick update: BMW roadside assistance came out and say that it will need to be picked up and taken to the dealer. As the hand brake is on, and isn’t functioning, it requires specialist equipment to pick up the car under the wheels and put it on a recovery van… next week. Nuts. The update appears to have been pulled from the app. Next time, I’ll drive to the dealer before updating… so they can deal with a bricked car right away…

Updated ours last night and used it today and no issues at all, 25e PHEV with ID8. A few tweaks in it not investigated more as to if I can notice the changes.

That’ll be iDrive 8 (tried and tested) vs. IDrive 9 (clearly still a beta). It was iDrive 9 that screwed up my car.

Well it has certainly been a rocky start for some with ID9 and it still doesn’t provide all the functions you can get on ID8, but then again a few id8 doesn’t offer.

It’s going to be the mainstream offering for everyone going forwards so I would hope that BMW is able to fix anything that is causing problems. But the failure issue don’t seem to be just for id9 other cars on id8 have suffered a similar fate. It’s not the first time this has happened either and why some cars is a mystery maybe BMW know but it seems not.

Over the air updates should be great but BMW is still in its infancy with it seems. Hope those that are having issues get them sorted quickly.

Indeed, although my id9 works fine and has done since a few teething issues in the first week or two some of which were user related!
