Bought an X1 on stop sale
I know this might not be the brightest idea but we absolutely fell in love with a 2023 X1 at our local BMW dealer. it only has 17,000 miles and was used as an executive car for the dealership. And the price is right at 36k for a CPO. We already put money down on it and we are going to finish the financing before the rates change at the end of the month. My question is how long could this last? I know it’s been going on since February without any real resolution but the stop sale didn’t happen till August. Are we thinking this could actually last through the end of the year? Or longer?

If your saying that they will not release the vehicle to you until they can fully repair the parts to resolve Open Recall: #24V-104:457 INTEGRATED BRAKE, I’d say unless dealer can commit in writing to fixing the vehicle NLT one month from signing date I would not purchase it. The price/value of the vehicle will continue to decrease for every month it can’t be released, regardless of miles.
Several dealers in my area still are not saying when they expect parts from BMW to install my 2024 X1 28i. Since mid-August the statue for my vin# says “Remedy Not Available”. Luckily I’ve not experience any brake problems so I’m still able to drive it. I’m keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 that no failure messages pop up about brakes. |

No, the several dealers I’ve called either don’t know how BMW is prioritizing who gets parts or will not say.
The one thing for sure, BMW allocated the parts first to those vehicles that were in production or just finished & not yet on a transport carrier. 2nd- I’ve heard that vehicles that were notified through the IDrive system of a brake problem got parts sooner than those, like mine that had not yet had a brake issue. I guess that makes sense when your talking about such a huge recall that’s effects many BMW series, not just the X1 & X2’s Good luck. |

I am in the UK and put a deposit down on a second hand X1 on 28th June. The car is still at the dealers waiting for the recall to be completed. I have no idea when it will be completed.

My impression of how they are fixing this integrated brake problem is they are upgrading the software to detect if your car is affected by it. And then only if you get the notification, you will need the part replaced.
Or does this only apply to cars already delivered? |

@Taylor-Made I am in the same situation in NY. (apologies for making a similar post I did not see yours!)
Please share any info as you receive it. I also found the car I wanted. So frustrating to not be able to close the deal and drive off. I may go shopping other brands this weekend. |

I had been expecting it to be just 10 days or so. But I now fear it will be much longer. I will shop elsewhere for sure. There are other cars (and many that the world has not declared to be ugly!)

My wife isn’t thrilled with the idea of waiting but I don’t think any other cars could compare at this point. We drove a handful of Mercedes GLA/GLB and they just don’t compare. The engins were so noisy. They have a bad habit of exploding. So much so Mercedes extended the head warranty to 15years 150,000 miles. Plus it didn’t ride nearly as nice as the X1. There’s not much else she likes in our price range as a “Starter” luxury suv. So for now we wait. Luckily we are fortunate enough to have an extra car in the meantime.

Volvo would have been a much stronger contender for the X1 when I was shopping around, but the only dealer in the state here SUCKS. I don't really care too much for the interior layout and the infotainment system, but it's a relatively nice albeit understated exterior.

Recent NHTSA filing. In past three months BMW has only serviced 10,000 of 250,000+ recalled vehicles in the US. What a disaster.

If NHTSA did not mandate recall repairs within a specific timeframe, they should have. I’ve had 20 vehicles in the past & never had to wait months to get a specific date to fix a recall. This being my first BMW let’s just say, I’m not impressed at all with their customer focus. |
