M340i. M Sport badge.
Nope, I have a 2016 340i. Has no 'M' badge.

Not with that shitty chassis.

And that interior is pure crap!

Bring back the E84 recipe with a 3 series chassis and a good engine and then we can talk.

Until then, this one will just be the joke of the pack.

That X2 body on a true RWD setting could be a really nice toy, but BMW decisions lately are just garbage…

So, they have decided to go front wheel drive with transverse engines (and took some flak from fanboys (who wouldn't have bought X1s or Active Tourers in first place, so that didn't matter commercially).

Obviously, using M5 trick xdrive in X1M is impossible for both technical (incompatible front drive platform design) and commercial (cost of M5 tech designed for CLAR platform) reasons. Not sure why you have any doubts regarding that matter to be honest.
I absolutely agree that 90% of 1 series buyers had no idea if their car was fwd or rwd but how many M135i or M140i buyers do you think knew? I'd guess 95%.

1. No SUV will ever be a corner carver, so might as well make with a cheaper, more spacious chassis.

2. Have you even seen the interior? I don't think there are any photos of it yet. Judging by the 1-series tho, the interior will be the same quality as the 3/4 series. As it has been so far.

3. E84 was a pointless car since it wan't even an SUV. Better just buy an E91

I think those who have driven the Porsche Macan would disagree with #1. With that said, it would likely have to be a much more expensive, higher end SUV of course to compete with a performance sedan/coupe (e.g. Macan GTS).

We don't even know for sure if it's a full fledger or an M performer, but either way if you want the RWD mule kick you'll need to go for a different car. X-drive cars have a unique smoothness to their speed which either you like or you don't.

XDrive has a RWD behaviour on dry pavement.
The CLAR FWD is just a Haldex which is a very different transmission. Plus is FWD, hence a different car overall.

That's not true. It uses parts from the Haldex system, yes, however the overall design and programming is BMW. It sends power to the rear not only when it loses traction, but also when cornering at higher speeds for example.

Lol, BMW programming is just a custom tuning. And yes, that’s what Haldex does. Still a FWD drive.

THe xDrive is a RWD system which is the opposite and keeps the sports car behaviour.

So the 22 X3 M40i gets M mirrors and now even the M tri stitched steering wheel, the M440i can be ordered with the carbon roof and now with this X1 M35i with the M quad tail pipes. I guess the only real thing left for M is under the covers. Suspension, brakes, engine etc..
