Read through here, it covers the charge rate, regenerative rate etc in the 'long version'.

https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/globa...t-ever-bmw-ix1

Maximum output is 240 kW/326 hp in the BMW X1 xDrive30e
(developed by the combination of the combustion engine with up to
110 kW/150 hp and the electric motor with up to 130 kW/177 hp) and
180 kW/245 hp in the BMW X1 xDrive25e (developed by the
combination of the combustion engine with up to 100 kW/136 hp and
the electric motor with up to 80 kW/109 hp). Now positioned flat in the
vehicle floor, the fifth-generation lithium-ion high-voltage batteries have
an increased usable energy content of 14.2 kWh. At the same time,
maximum charging capacity has climbed from 3.7 kW on the outgoing
model to 7.4 kW, enabling the high-voltage battery to be fully recharged
from empty in 2.5 hours. When hooked up to a conventional domestic
power socket, a full vehicle charge is completed within eight hours.
Electric range is now up to 78 – 89 kilometres (48 – 55 miles) in the
WLTP cycle.

Yeah, I test drove an iX and don't get the hype. It's an EV fast, ugly box, with a few nice design touches and unimpressive iDrive 8. For $100K.

My buddy has an ID.4 (to compliment his Porsche GT4) and it's nice, and a great deal after the tax credits.

Beyond that the interior is nice, specs seem ok in the price point. I'm not a buyer in this segment, but it makes me wonder what's coming for the future of the iX3.

Bravo.

PS - does anyone know why the BMW electric motors seem to be so large? It seems they take up a lot of frunk space, where other electric cars do not.
My first thoughts when I saw it leaked yesterday: F****** finally! The last MANY BMWs have really not been something I would have been seen in. This looks quite okay though.

Kind of wished BMW had the balls to just make this a full pure EV platform and harvest the benifits of a pure EV platform (interior space, optimal use of battery placement and front cargo space etc.).
Would also have been a great signal that BMW was back on track.

They were so far ahead of the game with the i3 and i8, but completely parked the entire i-division for waaaaay too long

If it replaces i3 on pricing i think it will be good city car. I like it, handsome, simple. Wanna see in real life but looks way better than those vulgar XM and IX7 and M4, i4 an so on.

Agree with every word. BMW is approaching the world with same platform for ev and ice because of US I think, actually. China moving to EVs (from bottom up too, not like western co from top down), EU is running away from ICE like that meme kid running from a peacock. Russia is not relevant as a big ICE market because of buying power. Mass produced cars should be EVs.

And just the PR of going green with an important model in the lineup would be great for the brand. The legacy automakers need to move and move fast!

I would imagine that is an effect of them converting a regular gas car to electric. Rather than having a purpose built ev. It really has a massive effect on packaging.

With the x3 being the best selling car in the US and it's built here and it costs more than the x1, there is no chance bmw cuts into that by bringing this here. They'll introduce an electric x3 at a 20k premium over this instead and convince all the generic bmw buyers the x1 is too small for their needs

Not seeing real data for the plug-in hybrid. Shows #'s for the electric version, and the 2 "mild hybrids", but not the plug-in?

Design is generic and forgettable.
After G80 ad the i7 this is kind of underwhelming.
But I guess it's fine, as it doesn't target a demographic who would like a more progressive - new age kind of design.
And I'm sure it will be a great car and well reviewed - like all the BMWs of late.

Existing hardware is able to have v8 only, 8.5 requires a different voice processor and v9 requires not only different hardware but it runs on a different OS.

So if you have ID8 now, it’s all you are going to get with updates on that.
