2024 M35i Nightmare

Picked up my ride late December 23. Been back to dealership 6 times for ApplePlay issues. Anyone have any thoughts on how to deal with BMW corporate to deal with this?
Starting to get old. Thinking of Lemon Law action. Love the way she drives, but the iDrive is killing me. Thanks

4. Handsfree stopped working after few days, i have to restart iDrive to work again
5. sometimes the rear-view mirrors don't fold down, sometimes they do
6. You unlock front doors but back doors still locked, WTF i have to unlock car second time ...

FYI lemon laws vary wildly by state, but by and large you need a mechanical issue to engage the process. And even then it's quite a process.

Same issues but no luck either. With the 03.2024 update, my dash is also just going black and restarting while driving. Throws no codes. It’s some sort of bug. Dealer can’t replicate. Fun stuff….

I was originally hoping I'd get ID9 in my 2023 X1 (Oct 2023 build date) but it sounds like I dodged a bullet. CarPlay has been solid in mine with a 15 pro.

I will add that your phone itself can make a difference too. What models do you have? Have you tried with other phones?

I’ve only had this issue using the digital key and some how I got kicked out of the profile and it won’t sign back in so I have limited function when driving with digital key, a little annoying.

I had many of the same issues on our X1 M35i. We ended up working with the dealer to trade it for an X3, which thankfully has been rock solid for the last 3 months. My recommendation would be to work with the dealer. BMW supplemented the trade value to the dealer to bridge the gap for us. I have also heard here where some have been offered $3k from BMW to live with the shortcomings until a permanent solution is identified. If the dealer is not reasonable or willing to work with you, call BMW customer service directly.

Please note that in our case, I was able to get the dealer to witness and acknowledge the problems. They first said they could not duplicate the issues, so I drove with the foreman as these issues on our car were easy to duplicate.

2024 X3 is still iDrive 7, the 2025 model year will presumably get iDrive 9.

So ultimately is it the IOS (phone) actually causing the issue or the car (ID9)?
Or a combination of the two?

Probably a combination of the two. On ID8 I only have CarPlay dropping out in very specific geographic spots likely due to strong radio interference, and the occasional glitch where the screen goes black until I shut the engine off and back on again.

It is combination bugs.Almost all system bugs in OS9 have been fixed, new bugs comes from third-party applications.Because OS9 is a andriod based operation system, and new third-party apps always cause unexpated bugs, even the road map is a third-party app!

I had my brand new X1 M35i for a total of 6 weeks. The first and last time I've bought a car of specifications and reviews alone due to there not being one available to drive in the UK.

Whilst it's a decent enough car, for me there was no satisfaction driving it at all. Yes it has decent power, but the hesitation to pull out of junctions is unnerving, combined with the roll back when pulling away even on a small incline. Also having numerous iDrive 9 issues (locking out my profile after update, jumping screen, poor phone connectivity etc) I decided I couldn't live with being a beta tester. Traded in for a new M240i in Brooklyn Grey and couldn't be happier. Outstanding performance, better fuel economy, no issues with iDrive and everything just works perfectly. I do feel BMW rushed the M35i out to market and it staggers me they removed so many of the controls in favour of touch screen only. If you're looking for an M35i, try and get a test drive first.

Do you really think anyone considering an SUV is going to be happy driving a teany-tiny 2-door coupe??

There will be a lot of people ordering the X1 M35i thinking it's a performance car. It's not. An M240i won't be for everyone but people should seriously consider the alternatives or at least get a test drive as I said. Keeping with an SUV platform, I'd be holding out to see if the new X3 has a 3 litre rear biased X drive.

I don’t understand anyone ordering an SUV and expecting it to be a performance car. The two don’t really belong together. An M35 X1 is a small SUV with some attractive kit on it and a larger engine, that’s it. Nothing wrong with that, but that’s what it is.

I was considering the M240i, probably would’ve got it if it came with a manual gearbox. But I was considering it for different reasons since it’s not nearly as practical for me. Since my lease on the X1 is about halfway through I’m already starting to look at what’s next.

Exactly! I don’t drive my X1 expecting the performance of my M2 or vice versa

I agree but also disagree here, they’re definitely marketing it to be a performance forward car, which I agree it is indeed not. However the m240i is an extremely different car class.

Coupe(roadster) against a compact suv. Def not the same. Also different price ranges, one is obviously looking to please the sport performance market, and the other pleasing the daily driver. Both have their purposes. Wouldn’t expect the X1 to track like a performance car, and I wouldn’t expect the m240i to be something an average small family would choose given the lack of cargo/passenger space.

Different usage for each ride
