GEARBOX problems

Hi
My daughter bought a new X1(U11) in December 2022.
In Feb 23 a warning light came on at 1800 miles and car was recovered to dealer who said needed new gearbox- took till mid April to get car back
Driving car last few days- car would not go into reverse and when pulling out at busy junction failed to select gear.
Car is booked back in dealers on Tuesday.
QUESTION- Anyone have any similar experiences or aware of problems with gearbox?
Thanks

Thanks - both times car had problem - no message on dash or warning lights.
I could not get a 'straight' answer from dealer as to why gearbox - with no problems when driving part from an engine management light would need to be replaced at 2 months old and with 1800 miles

since the OP said that X1 already had a new gearbox installed and it still encountered the no reverse gear defect, I'm wondering if the problem is software, not hardware. in which case, your BMW dealer should probably take a second look before swapping the gear box?

The one thing that comes to mind was the stop sale on the hybrids regarding the electric drive unit on early production models. That’s the only thing I can think of that maybe explains the troubles.

Given a new transmission has been put in I wonder if the issue might be linked to a faulty gear selector (the PDNR control inside the car).

Different car but a year or so ago we had a new polo that had infrequent transmission issue messages pop up. When we took it into the dealer and explained the issue they ordered and replaced the gear selector unit without doing any further diagnosis. Car had been fine since.
