M35i Stop Sale Interior Trim

Yesterday my dealer informed me that my car has a stop sale on it for some sort of interior trim issue. Anyone else hear anything similar? Sounded fairly minor.

Car is at port in Germany, has the Aluminum Hex interior trim.

From what I’ve gathered (who knows how much of this is accurate, based on other forum posts), it was some sort of fire or issue in the factory and so certain pieces of trim were not available when certain cars were put together. Looks to be about 1000 cars.

The cars went to port but were held while they figured out what to do. As far as I know, it has not been fixed yet, but the cars have started to move.My car is currently on A ship but still has the stop sale showing.

That said I was told that this may have been fixed already and the stop sale may be removed upon inspection and arrival in the US. But on the other hand, it may not have been fixed and they may need to fix it at port in the US. Or maybe even at the dealer.

Sadly no eta or solid info as far as I’ve heard. Really enjoying overall.

We were a week 38 build and are stuck at the VPC in Baltimore. We have been there for a week now and the dealer has no update on when the vehicle will be released. Usually when the VPC has the parts and a work order scheduled the dealer can tell when it will be released. The dealer indicated that trim pieces in the trunk are what is missing. It is a result of the supplier having a fire that interrupted production like others have mentioned. This also affected parts for the iX. I will be surprised if the vehicle arrives before December. BMW generally seems to be unorganized when it comes to situations like this sadly.

Mine is week 35, but just now on a boat heading towards Baltimore. Where then it will head towards the port in Georgia where I presume it will sit for a while before they fix it like yours before heading to the dealer… So ridiculous.

When did your car arrive to port? Is that a problem real ETA you think or something they made up? Seems like everyone is giving best guesses vs solid info from the BMW side lol

If it was just loaded in the last few days and stopping in Baltimore, it sounds like your car is on the Themis or Arc Defender?

Does anyone know if this stop sale/trim issue is specifically limited to the M35i? Has it been resolved for most folks?

I ordered a 28i with M Sport and aluminium hexacube trim and it appears to be delayed several weeks, but no explanation has been given.

Seems unclear whether the stop sale issue is specific to the hexacube trim or something else. Either way the interior is probably 90% the same between the 28i M Sport and M35i unless getting the M Sport seats.

My dealer confirmed it’s not just the M35s. In a photo he sent me they had 28s that were in the same status. And someone else mentioned it was delaying on the electric model as well.

It’s been confirmed it is some sort of trim in the trunk.

Mine came to VPC on 26th. My SA told its gonna take 2 more weeks because of the hold by BMW but how he was sure of that timeline I do not know. My dealership is not great communicator so far.

Seems to be common amongst the dealerships… thanks for the info.

If you can, let us know when your car is finally leaving port and heading to the dealer.

The online recall look up tool shows my car's work order was completed and also my dealer informed me the vehicle is on the way to dealership from Baltimore.

I forgot to come back here and say something, but some people on another thread have started saying the cars are being cleared after fixing at the port and heading to the dealers. I think three or four so far on that list as well as yourself.

What’s the website for that online? Recall tool? My car should be landing in Port today at some point.

Mine has recall closed (I also heard from dealer the stop sale was lifted). If it helps - it spent probably 2.5 weeks at Baltimore.

Mine arrives to port in GA today hopefully and then will hopefully be resolved quickly.

Still showing open as of now on the recall site.

Week 35 build.
