Kind of wished BMW had the balls to just make this a full pure EV platform and harvest the benifits of a pure EV platform (interior space, optimal use of battery placement and front cargo space etc.). Would also have been a great signal that BMW was back on track. They were so far ahead of the game with the i3 and i8, but completely parked the entire i-division for waaaaay too long

If it replaces i3 on pricing i think it will be good city car. I like it, handsome, simple. Wanna see in real life but looks way better than those vulgar XM and IX7 and M4, i4 an so on.

With the x3 being the best selling car in the US and it's built here and it costs more than the x1, there is no chance bmw cuts into that by bringing this here. They'll introduce an electric x3 at a 20k premium over this instead and convince all the generic bmw buyers the x1 is too small for their needs

Design is generic and forgettable.
After G80 ad the i7 this is kind of underwhelming. But I guess it's fine, as it doesn't target a demographic who would like a more progressive - new age kind of design. And I'm sure it will be a great car and well reviewed - like all the BMWs of late.

Existing hardware is able to have v8 only, 8.5 requires a different voice processor and v9 requires not only different hardware but it runs on a different OS.
So if you have ID8 now, it’s all you are going to get with updates on that. |
