order shows "All Season" tires but my X1 has "Ultra High Performance All Season"
I washed my X1 for the first time, after it had been though heavy rain.
That was when I first noticed the tires on the SUV. It has "Pirelli P Zero All Season" 18 inch tires. I went to tirerack.com and looked up those tires and they showed "Ultra High Performance All Season" from within the "Performance Tire" category. It appears to be a slightly different category as just "All Season" tires. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...m=255HR8P0ASXL While I have no complaints about these P Zero tires(they are quiet and very comfortable), I'm not so sure if they are the correct tires? Is it possible that these are more "performance" tires, which I don't really want. My X1 was ordered with the M Sport Package and the standard M 18-inch wheels. Thoughts? -Nicky Last edited by SpaceSilverX1; 04-30-2023 at 07:25 AM.. |

I suspect it is nothing more than extra marketing words added to the description. All season tyres that might include snow are often noisier and provide less not more grip in summer sunny conditions. So it really depends what bias you want. Nothing is good at everything.

At least you got a decent make of tyres on your X1!
Mine arrived from BMW with some cheap and nasty Nexen 'ditch finders' fitted - I guess they don't care about the UK market and just fit whatever crap is left in the warehouse! My previous BMW, a 2 series Active Tourer, which is arguably a less 'sporty' car than the X1, came from BMW fitted with Michelin Primacy 3 tyres, which were brilliant. |

I don't know much about Nexen tires, except that they are a South Korean tire manufacturer. BMW also uses Hankook tires. They are also from South Korea. I've driven Hankook tires on a couple of cars(VW and Acura). They were actually very nice. As for the Pirelli P Zero All Season tires that came on my X1 last week, I looked up the DOT code. It was 193, so they were manufactured in Romania. Not sure if that's good or bad. Most of the reviews used words like quiet, good handling and decent wet traction. However, a lot of owners reported mediocre to bad handling on snow and ice. |

My area used to get one or two snow storms each year.(from 2 to 6 inches at most) In the last 3 or 4 years, we got zero snow during the entire winter season. That means I don't really have to worry about driving on snow, except when I go on road trips up north. |

My M-Sport X1 came with Hankook Ventus S1-AS. I looked them up to find that they're all-season tires. Interestingly, my dealer said it wouldn't be coming with all-season tires and that BMW was no longer going to be putting them on their vehicles since they're not good for mpg? Guess he was wrong/misinformed.

I’m actually pretty fond of the Ventus V12’s, I’ve had them on 3 of my previous cars. Good traction, decent treadwear, and when you do lateral traction it’s more progressive and not instant. And they’re cheap!

Over the years, I've only personally experienced two truly awful tires, one by Bridgestone and the other by Goodyears. (but of course, not all of their are bad, just the two models that came on my previous cars) |

Personally I've had many issues with Continentals over the years. If mine is delivered with them they will be replaced immediately.

The summer RFT Continentals that my Countryman JCW came with were horrible. Would bulge the sidewall just driving past a leaf. Once the tire warranty expired (that I got my money’s worth on), I moved to Continental ContiProContact SSR all seasons that by comparison have been fantastic(by RFT standards, at least).

after my X1 is properly gone through the break-in period, I'll finally let it go above 2500rpm. I have been religiously keeping it below that for now, basically driving like I have a sleeping attack dog in the backseat and I don't want it to wake up for any reason |

Not sure it is a problem with the tyres. Weight distribution and the small engine mean there is not much weight over the front wheels for a FWD car.

Is yours not xDrive? We only get xDrive in the States, and on my 18” wheels I can barely get a chirp before AWD and traction control kick in.

I can see the tires spinning in your case then, especially if the roads aren’t paved nicely.
