I think cars produced starting in November (ours) will have the latest iD9 version which is 11/2023.

I've been lurking for a good few months, but thought I should finally register to share my experience upgrading IDrive 9 to 07/2023.72

It all worked perfectly and after leaving the car fit about 20 minutes, I got a notification that it had finished the update.

My car now:
-shows Alexa app (not tried it)
-works with android auto on the main profile (previously only worked with non main profiles only)
-apps now update correctly.

Only caveat that I had: the engine warning light came on due to something tripping due to the update, although the vehicle status app in the car showed all green.
Using an odb2 connector and bimmerlink, I cleared all errors and they've not returned.

My suggestion if you also have this, call your dealer and explain it and have them clear all errors (should take a few minutes only). If they then return you may have an issue.

It's not uncommon for warning lights to come on after an update, sometimes the updates reset certain things and all it takes is a short drive to clear them.

The only change I have seen after the update is that now every time I exit the vehicle ID9 continues to run, play music, etc even after all doors have opened. Now I have to lock the vehicle every time I walk away from it to get the car to shut down. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I still have consistent interruptions with Apple CarPlay cutting out frequently (every few minutes) and the phone connection completely dropping on occasion (1/hour roughly). The ASS lag also appears unchanged.

Has anyone seen a car with with 11/2023? Or is there any confirmation that such update exists?

52 miles in 2 drives wasn't enough if that's the case

Yes...but its only available via a dealer or new factory production. OTA updates are always one version behind what's being installed at the factory.

Can't comment on that as these X1's, especially the '24 models seem to be more and more quirky compared to previous BMW's I've owned. In previous cars when I had any errors after updating or changing out parts, any codes were cleared within a couple of miles.

I can understand MY24 models may be more quirky than previous generations of BMWs but have the MY24 models been more quirky than MY23? If so, how?

Just anecdotal evidence based on the feedback on this forum concerning ID9 and the many issues posted vs. ID8.

We don't know what the 2024 X1 2.8 will be like since no one has one as yet (USA version).

I agree and that was kind of my point. Other than the M35s that have been delivered, which I assume has the same or similar software, there's not much information to go on to indicate the MY24s are more problematic than previous models.

You never specified the U.S.A. 28i though. Just looking at the past couple of pages seems to indicate a larger group of people running ID9 are having issues with CarPlay in particular compared to ID8. Not to mention the features promised at purchase like AR nav and drive recorder not being available yet leads me to believe that ID9 is not a polished final product yet.

And if you reread my original post I was comparing all X1’s to previous BMWs I have owned. Other than my CarPlay connection randomly dropping in my f32 once or twice, and known warranty issues like the water pump on my e90 and e92, I had zero issues with the cars. That is what my comment was explaining, apologies if that wasn’t clear.

Updated to 07/2023.75 a few days ago. Now for some reason ID9 stays on after everyone exits the vehicle and I have to lock the vehicle every time to shut it down. It also fully turns on after opening the doors without hitting accessory mode or even getting into the vehicle. Is anyone else experiencing these oddities?

The original comment specifically referred to MY24 models being more quirky. The previous posts regarding ID9 in this thread are related to MY23 models with the exception of the few MY24 M35s that have been delivered this year.

Since very few MY24 models have been actually delivered, we'll need to wait and see if those are indeed more quirky than previous years.

But that’s exactly my point, the M35 owners in the last couple of pages seem to be having more similar issues proportionally compared to others running ID8. I’m not going to clog up this thread anymore arguing, we’ll just agree to disagree.

Bound to be more issues seen and reported on id9 as it’s newer and similar could be said of id8 when it came out.

My id9 is faultless at the moment and has been since July.

Finally bit the bullet and let the car upgrade. I haven’t noticed much difference but take up from nearly stopped seems a bit better and the volume display says Harman Kardon in the corner now.
