any ideas on how to polish this

this metal is starting to.....fade i guess is the best word. i want it to look shiny like the day i bought it. any household products

Get the tar/grime remover and wipe it down first....then polish using any alluminum polish and it should shine like new, what is that anyway? look like a piston

Ya just grab some Mothers metal polish next time your at an auto parts store in with the car soaps/wax/tire spray/etc...
