I like those a lot more.
I'm not able to order the adaptive ones due to budget restrictions in my car lease.
The US ones do show the nice recognizable signature for day time running lights. (two half halos) The Belgian ones are not.

No they have a light on, it's just not a fancy design but not the full lights.

never test drove the X1 after dark... I wonder what the LED headlights for the US look like. Obviously it's not going to be adaptive like that. Do the high beam just cut in and out, based on on-coming traffic?

USA LEDs don't have the matrix "anti dazzle" feature. Auto high beams are either ON or OFF.

Thanks! Just as I thought.... so it's like most cars that have the high beam just go on and off... (which I really dislike)

I assume it's possible to go into the menu to disable it? I'll just control it manually. I'm probably one of the very few drivers out there who is always very mindful of the high beam lights... I *always* turn it off as soon as I spot cars coming towards me in a distance. (too bad I can't say the same for other drivers who don't give a fluff and just keep their high beam on all the time)

You can turn off the auto high beams so that they function as conventional high beams. But the auto function works really well - never need to touch the stalk.

My next car, I definitely want matrix high beams, tho.

not sure if I'm allowed to say this yere, but the digital matrix LED headlights on the current Audi Q5 is amazing... the interior of the car, not so much(a little outdated, since it's due for a complete new update soon)

I believe the X1/BMW uses an almost identical system to Audi with the new Matrix system. The only thing they don't do is point the lights around a corner as the steering moves that the old system used to.

There are lamps in the inner corners of the headlight assembly that illuminate the corners when turning though. I personally didn't like the old system that moved the headlights left and right, it was slightly disorienting to me in some instances. Most of our roads here are fairly well lit though, so probably not useful to me compared to others.

Yeah the new system is better and reacts faster than the old. Will see a good comparison in a few months when the wife gets hers.

Also from that YouTube video:
"You do notice that as well as the headlights being changed that only the outside edge of the rear red lights illuminate, not the full 3 section L shape"

Anyone got some official description of this ?

I believe the majority of us on this forum have the higher spec headlights and tail lights, so you may have to wait a bit until someone takes delivery of one with the lights in question.

They additionally illuminate the corner for sure.i am impressed with the full adaptive led (eu spec)..and the sensor is better than the g30 lci ,faster reacting and much more sensible.
I had almost 1000km driving at night and its really good.

do we know if coding for the U11 ever comes available if it will be possible to code an anti-dazzle matrix LED feature?

Given that the anti dazzle works in other parts of the world, I would be amazed if you can’t code it. Only problem is that Bimmercode does not support the U11 X1 and they can’t give me a date for when it will become available (sadly).
