Don't know who's right or what options which cars get, I'll update once I pick my car up on Saturday.
I didn't have Driving Assistance Pro, but mine came with 9QV (5AT Preparation for FOD). I definitely had the lights on the steering wheel and am using the trial for Driving Assistance Plus right now.

Does it show a radar of other cars around you in the drivers display when you are using it? I've seen the ix do this and I was wondering if the x1 was the same

Actually watching this video it looks like it does, the video only shows it for a few seconds but you see a car on the right moving at the start of the clip and the van ahead remaining in the same place.

That's pretty cool. Took me a few views to catch it, was hard to see on my phone so had to view it on my monitor. It starts at 16:44 in the video for those who haven't seen it yet.

The X1 steers itself to stay in lane when cruise control is activated, but...
I could not make it stay in lane when driving without cruise control...
Every car I've driven with LKAS will let you steer to stay in lane without requiring to be in cruise control, am I missing anything...?

There was a setting somewhere in the menus to set the level of steering intervention, I think mine is set to medium for lane departure, but I've only felt it kick in once on a weird merge where I think the car got confused.

9QV comes with both the Convenience Package and the Premium Package (not just Premium).

9QV is the code signifying vehicle preparation to enable the 5AT Driving Assistant Plus. Very early X1 builds did not have this preparation, but all ZCV and ZPP cars will have it starting in November production.

To get 5AU Driving Assistant Professional, which is another step up, you would have to order it from the factory as it contains additional hardware.

5AT is a good middle step if you just want Adaptive Cruise Control.

Dynamic Cruise Control is just regular non-adaptive.

.
I was notified on Friday that 5AT preparation was removed from my build.(supposedly went into production process last Monday) My X1 was ordered with M-Sport, Premium Package, Active Seats, Remote Start, Wood Trim.

"5AT Preparation for FOD" was clearly shown on the order paperwork right before the CA contacted me to tell me my X1 was going into production. I called him back when his email said that the 5AT preparation was removed.

He contacted the guy at the dealership in charge of ordering. They were not able to find out why it was removed. Three other X1s going into production the same week as mine also were notified of the removal of the 5AT preparation. They are waiting to hear back from BMW tomorrow or sometime next week. I hope BMW doesn't answer back with more BS about chip shortage or some lame excuse.

if I have to guess, does the removal of 5AT mean that my X1 won't be able to have "Driving Assistance Plus" added to it via paid subscription after delivery? <sigh>

Yikes that isn't good, I take it you might have wanted some of the features it offers. Have they said anything, I wonder if this is going to be a trend. They fit it hoping people will add it later but maybe that strategy is changing... ??

honest, I probably wouldbn't shell out $900 for the subscription... but who know what I want to do in a year or two? Not having 5AT prep means I can't buy i later, even if I'm willing to pay....

Yeah that's not good at all. They do let you try it for a 1-3 months I think it was I saw, but then you have to cough up. I can see why they want to change strategy but they should say they are going to change for those that are in the queue. I'm not sure if my wife would want to pay for the full pack, possibly not. However if they broke it down to a Ł/$500 pack that came with a few nice to haves like the Blind spot and a few things then she might go for that.

now that I think about it, perhaps BMW's bean counters calculated that it was actually losing them money by installing hardware that few people were subscribing to? a giant automaker must have teams of people locked in a basement doing financial calculations 24/7, right?

Perhaps the fancy new iDrive 9 head units are costing them more than they bargained for? Something's gotta give ...

I suspect that is spot on. Fitting quite expensive things that people might never use is a bit of a gamble that maybe isn't working out. Steering wheel heating and more all fitted but has to be enable afterwards costs money somewhere. I presume the economies of scale mean the price drops if they fit to them all and if they get X% enable the gamble has worked.

But if they are short of those then maybe they start to drop it. They are removing more than they are adding to models these day it seems, these are odd times.

Don't think that they have actually listed that anywhere.. I think its in the post in this thread roughly what was included but its not as clear as it should be.

Blind Spot monitors is a prime example, it seems you don't get them unless you enable them or go for the full Pro pack, or do you. It isn't listed ANYWHERE either way.

Blind Spot is the only thing I'd actually enable. Hate all these so called driving aids. I had the speed limiter set on my XC40, doing 60 on an open road and it spotted a 30mph sign on a side road and slammed the brakes on. Heart stopping stuff!

Completely agree but it’s wrapped in a pack but which pack and how, good luck it’s a mess.

FWIW, as most people have, I’ve driven cars with dynamic cruise control and adaptive cruise control. Adaptive is a nice feature but IMHO, not worth $950. If I have to go back to having my finger on “cancel” to slow down and the hit “resume “ to speed up, so be it.

It does come with a nifty self parking assistant that helps for parallel parking.

I also wouldn’t count on the connected drive upgrade with idrive 9 to work. I’m currently on my third trip back to the dealer to get it to work.
