Any mods/accessory recommendations?

I know the car is pretty brand new, haven't seen a single '23 x1 anywhere in NY. Can't seem to find any good mods/accessories for it either.

Anyone mod their cars or add any accessories? I can't even tint my windows here with the state max of 70% and the BMW site doesn't even sell mud flaps for this car.

Gotta do as much as I can while I'm still in the honey moon phase of having the car lol

Interested in this as well. Everything I’ve come up with so far hasn’t been specific to the U11 X1. So far all I’ve got on order are the factory all weather mats, and reversible cargo mat.

I would never get a bra for a car after seeing what it did to my dad’s paint finish on his ‘91 Toyota Previa back in the day. Little by little, the wind causes the bra to flap ever so slightly and wears away at the paint surface. Over a decade and his paint was noticeably worn, and this one fit really snug.

of course not! I just wanted to show that picture because I didn't even know people still made bras for the bonnet! Had one in the late 1980s and it was ridiculously bad for the car paint.(worse than having rock chips)

but if companies are still making bras, does that mean people are still buying them? I haven't seen them on the road in Europe or the US in ages....

There are always young and inexperienced people who will buy bras and learn their lesson when they are older and wiser

couldn't agree with you more! when I was young and inexperienced, I was obsessed with bras! (for cars or otherwise)

now that I'm much older, I know it's better to play it safe and use protection like PPF.

Had a bra on one of my old vehicles. Didn't scratch the paint, but the paint didn't match the rest of the car years after the bra was removed.

My first car out of college was a Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX, I really loved that car.
210 horses was a lot for that small car at the time.
Anyway, I had a bra on it and several years later paint under the bra had many micro scratches. dust got inside and then with the rubbing from wind caused micro scratches.

same here... my first bra was on a red 2-door car 30 years ago. the paint under the bra became a dull red. after that I never looked at bras again.(at least not for cars)

I've been looking into an alternative phone mount for the car that places it within closer view and higher on the dash since I occasionally have to use apps that aren't compatible with CarPlay. In my '20f32, a cheap vent mount from Amazon that held an Apple MagSafe charger worked pretty well, but unfortunately the vent blades on the X1 are a bit too thick for the same mount to transfer over. I'd previously used ProClipUSA mounts in my e90 and e92 and they were always solid and easy to install. If you go to their page, the listing for the 2023 X1 is inaccurate, but I managed to find the correct part on the Brodit website here: https://www.brodit.com/en/product/855845

I have an email out to ProClipUSA to see when they'll be available stateside and will be purchasing one as soon as I can.

For the side that actually sticks to the phone, they have a few solutions, but I'll most likely be 3D printing a more slim solution and screwing it directly to the base.

To be honest, I'm not that satisfied with the wireless charger built into the X1 since it's not able to charge at the full 15W for Apple, though I do like the concept of it.

Thought about doing the 50 Jahre badges, there are a few sites selling the front and rear for $140, but it's pretty low on my priorities.

Where in Japan are you? There's a BMW tuner there that I visit whenever I'm in Japan, Studie. They may have accessories for your car in the works. I've only been to the Yokohama and Kobe locations, but they always have some cool cars in the lot or on the lift. ASM is famous for the Honda S2000's, but I believe they also do stuff for BMW as well.

Also, I replaced my rear license plate holder since the ones that come with the car are crap. The OEM BMW rear plate mounts (in the US at least), no longer come with brass inserts for the license plate screws to thread into, and are just plastic holes. I wanted to put one of my old plate frames on, and tightening the screws caused the plastic to strip and were free spinning. Bought this one off amazon and as a bonus, comes with tamper resistant pin Torx screws.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DCG2EPW...roduct_details

The mounting holes that mount it to the body of the car are very slightly off, but doesn't affect the ability to mount it to the car sturdily.

How about more storage space? As a somewhat horder and messy individual, I keep a lot of things in random storage spaces in my cars. I'm sure this will force me to be a bit more minimalistic, but I wish someone would come up with a storage box to fit under the armrest console, like a mini trash can or something lol

This, and also as someone who does use my phone frequently in the car (I know, dangerous), I hate reaching to the charging dock to grab the phone and put it back. Will probably use a vent mount as I think it puts it in the perfect spot below the center display and the charging area (will close that vent when using heat).

Just be aware that the vent blades are pretty thick, the vent mount holders that I already have don’t fit on the X1
