iDrive 9 Update
BMW OPERATING SYSTEMS.
The all-electric iX1 and BMW Plug-in Hybrid models feature BMW Operating System 8, whilst the all X1 petrol and diesel models feature the new BMW Operating System 9 (from April 2023 production). |

Interesting, looks like we might miss out on ID9 as we have a Hybrid on order; I'm not sure what to think, the pictures made the new ID9 look quite fussy by comparison to ID8 and less simple.
Not sure that is a good thing for a car but let's wait to see what it actually looks like in reality. Also in the past ID8 has had bugs at the beginning, not sure what it will be like for the new one will people feel like a beta tester maybe. |

He had been on an idrive 9 course, was told not all X1 variants were getting it, no one seems to know why. He checked and sent me copy of BMW notes He thinks the new 5 series is getting it too |

Personally, I'd hold out for ID10...bound to be way better than ID9

Hmmm...not sure why they chose to blow steam around the vehicle...guess it's a low-budget reveal....as for the anti-carjacking device...you're from the U.S...don't you open/carry?

Not everywhere in the US is open or concealed carry, it varies based on state/county law.

I think it might have been in the Website brochure that you get, no PDF these days just a link to a site (which they take an age to update normally as it still shows prices pre price increase). This listed in the standard tech equipment from memory.

That will either lead to this is amazing wait until you all get it or OMG the bugs are killing the ownership experience you should be glad you don't have it, or somewhere in-between. |

If I weren't thinking of keeping mine for a good few years I'd have wanted ID8. Reckon I'll have a good few bugs as an early adopter.

I wouldn't be too fearful of ID8 and just getting that. It seems that many new cars even the new 5 is going to get ID8 not ID9 certainly at the start. Why I don't know but I thought that was what was being suggested so there will be a LOT of models still on ID8 across the BMW range.
